GOP DEBATE - Trump and the series of tubes

Funniest moment of the night so far. Trump rambles on about closing "our internet" so that terrorists can't use it, and closing off portions of "their internet" and maybe getting our "best guys" to infiltrate their internet. LMFAO.

Everyone with a clue in the audience boos him because...well...that's not how the internet works! And he can't understand why he keeps getting boo'd. OMG, what fun.

I'm gonna need more popcorn.

Re: GOP DEBATE - Trump and the series of tubes

He was just asked about the triad and had absolutely no clue what Hewitt was talking about. He stammered and said something like "the power of weaponry is so massive, it's important to me..."

Rubio had to jump in and explain it to him. Whew. Rough night for the Donald!

Re: GOP DEBATE - Trump and the series of tubes

All that money, if he only had a brain.  There are some things you just can't buy!  My husband watched as much as he could stand, I gave up after five minutes, I've heard it all before, everything is Obama's fault.  They can only preach fear, they have no real solutions for anything.  Lindsay Graham actually said he wished Bush was still President, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in, can he be any more out of touch with reality, of course he also thinks he could win the Presidency, not just out of touch, delusional.  They talk of taking the country back and making it great again, if they have so little regard for the country they live in and they no longer think it's great, maybe they should move elsewhere and try to run for office there, oh wait a minute, no other country wants them.

Re: GOP DEBATE - Trump and the series of tubes

I was pretty amazed (happy) that The Donald seemed to have less air time in the debates last night.  The other candidates did much more discussion about their ideas & views than Trump.Trumptime was minimized  and that's always a good thing. He was so out of his league and only had generalized answers for his questions. I hope that his star is fading. He & his supporters frighten me. I do not like the ugly side of America that Trump bring out.

They stoke and fan the flames of fear day in and day out, then they stand on stage and say "People are afraid!" Well, mission accomplished GOP. Fear is all you have.

Christie on ISIS:

On ISIS, let's be clear: The president needs to be a force that's trusted in the world," Christie said. "This president's not trusted ... but I'll tell you this: When I stand across from King Hussein of Jordan, and I say to him, 'You have a friend again, sir, who will stand with you to fight this fight.' he'll change his mind.

King Hussein of Jordan died in 1999.

Re: GOP DEBATE - Trump and the series of tubes

SO and I worked a late shift yesterday but set the DVR for both GOP debates. After watching them today our opinion is that the first debate was again a waste of time and those at the kiddy table need to give it up.

The main debate was imo the best of all the GOP debates. As right leaning democrats we are interested in both party debates and although we have not yet, except for Governor, voted republican we are open to voting for a republican POTUS if he/she is the most qualified.

We thought that Marco Rubio won the debate with Ted Cruz closely following. None of the other candidates, especially Trump the current front runner in the polls, said anything of value to us.Would not vote for Cruz because his politics don't fit our needs, particularly his foreign policy and economic stance. Rubio on the other hand has a foreign policy and economic plan that makes a lot of sense. Would like to see him debate this with Sec Clinton.

Our choice for POTUS at this point in time is Sec Clinton and have no doubt that she will win the nomination. Is she the most qualified candidate to win the election? Depends on the republican nominee and final debate. Current polls show that Trump could be the nominee and if true, Sec Clinton will crush him. Our hope is that Marco Rubio will win the nomination opening the door for a healthy informative debate. Interesting time in politics today particularly given the fear of further terrorist attacks on our homeland.

This POTUS election is the most important ever. The safety of all US citizens is contingent on who our next POTUS will be. Pay attention to the final debates and VOTE!!!

Re: GOP DEBATE - Trump and the series of tubes

Interesting post, Braveone. I also thought that Rubio did very well and I think he is the only candidate who can really give Hillary a fight. I am very hopeful that Cruz and Trump will be able to keep Rubio from getting the nomination. As a Hillary fan, nothing would make me happier than seeing Trump or Cruz as her competition.

I do see Rubio's weaknesses though. He at first seems extremely knowledgeable and well spoken. But the more you listen, it seems like he memorizes different sentences on every topic and then strings them together in different combinations to make it sound like he has an impressive grasp on an issue.

If someone knocks him off script, sparks shoot out of his ears and everything goes to shit.

As far as Cruz, his evangelical far right wing stances on most issues will take him right out of contention for the WH. No chance he can win a national election. Between that and his ridiculous flat tax plan, he hasn't got a prayer. I would love to debate him myself over that issue.

And Trump vs. HIllary would be my absolute dream! She could start ordering curtains now!

Hi Shiny,

Honestly, I too would like to see Hillary go head to head with either Trump or Cruz. If anyone can take them down it is Sec Clinton!

I see what you mean about Rubio's weaknesses but think he has much more substance and grasp of issues than any of the other republican candidates and is the best prepared to debate Clinton. If Rubio is the nominee, how he will hold up under pressure from Clinton will I think be challenging for him.
