Brave I agree with you. I just see many problems with the laws & lack of enforcement. An example is being a state that does not have open carry then changing the law to open carry & not train law enforcement or educate the community on how to live with guns in their bars, churches & grocery stores. It is like throwing computers to monkeys & thinking, meh they'll figure it out.

We need to stop being so divisive on this issue, get down to the real facts, shed the failures & change the bath water. Everyone should feel as secure as possible, from the person who has a gun for protection to those who choose not to own a gun but want to be safe around gun owners. I just think many Americans attitude regarding firearms is way too ignorant & casual, instead of respecting the fact it can take a life. It has almost become an accessory for some. An ego booster. We need change that mentality if possible. Jmo.

Absolutely agree Vantro!!

Hi Dolly,

Speaking only for myself, this is a serious topic and I find the 'cartoon posts' not at all funny and a waste of this board.

Thought we were having a healthy debate until bombarded by the 'Dolly cartoons'. In fact, the majority of every single topic on this board includes your cartoons, many of which I find inappropriate. jmo

Too often I have logged on only to log off because the board is filled with 'Dolly cartoons' and comments I do not want to engage in. Would really like to engage in dialogue (or rhetoric) that is intelligent and meaningful without the nonsense. Again, just speaking for myself.

Re: Gun Nut News

I would add that guns should not be manufactured to look like anything, but a gun. Real guns should not be princess pink & toy guns should not be gun metal black. A real gun should not be a transformer iPhone! Seriously, a gun manufacturer has just made a gun that by all appearances looks like a cell phone, but with a small adjustment it becomes a real functioning gun! Talk about confusing children, adults & the police. Smh

In addition to responsible gun owners there should be responsible gun manufactures. If my gun looked like my cell phone I would likely shoot myself in the head

Not to mention that using this type of 'gun iPhone' will have everyone thinking that people are actually pointing a gun at them, instead of their actual cellphone.  I read about it today and couldn't believe it...this should be against the law...smh

Thankfully on this board we're entitled to post what we like and not be banned.

Sometimes individuals and groups say and do things that are so far out, the best way (IMO) to deal with them is through humor.

The idea that Republicans are demanding to bring guns to their convention lest they become "sitting ducks" is beyond outrageous. How can you discuss such a nonsensical idea seriously?

Have you read any of the excerpts I posted of the NRA's "fractured pro gun fairy tales" for children?
If you have and don't find them funny, no hilarious, there's nothing more I can say.

Braveone, I will always be me and post as I like.
Please feel free to ignore.

As I don't wish to drive anyone from discussions with other posters, I promise not to post with you or comment on any of your posts.

More than that, I can not promise.

Re: Gun Nut News

NRA stirs controversy with gun-centric fairy tales.

The gun lobby is facing criticism for rewriting a series of children’s fairy tales to put guns in the hands of beloved characters.

The National Rifle Association (NRA) this year has released two stories — "Little Red Riding Hood (Has a Gun)" and "Hansel and Gretel (Have Guns)" — that arm the main characters with firearms.

"Have you ever wondered what those same fairy tales might sound like if the hapless Red Riding Hoods, Hansels and Gretels had been taught about gun safety and how to use firearms?” the NRA asks readers.

Critics accuse the NRA of undertaking a “campaign to arm children.”

"The NRA continues to stoop to new lows in the hopes of shoving guns into America's youngest hands,” Dan Gross, president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, said in a statement.

The NRA, which did not immediately respond to a request for comment, teamed up with conservative blogger Amelia Hamilton to rewrite the fairytales.

In "Hansel and Gretel (Have Guns)," released last week, the two siblings escape the witch’s cottage with the help of a rifle. An excerpt from the book: Hansel unlocked the cage and opened the door. The hinges gave a groan and the sound of the witch's snoring stopped, the silence filling the room as they looked at each other in panic. Gretel got her rifle ready, but lowered it again when the snoring resumed.

Re: Gun Nut News

The NRA is out of control.
So stupid to rewrite those Fairy Tales. It ruins the story for sure.
Guess rewriting American History isn't enough for Conservatives.

Another day, another accidental shooting. This time a mother almost killed her two year old by dropping her purse to the floor that had a gun in it.

The gun fired, richocheted and grazed the child's face.

Re: Gun Nut News

Finally, a win for the sane people.

A lawsuit brought by 10 families affected by the Sandy Hook school massacre be thrown out was denied by a Connecticut Judge.

They had requested to be shielded by a law known as Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), which protects gun manufacturers from civil lawsuits.

The basis of the argument of the plaintiffs is that the rifle shouldn’t have been entrusted to the general public because it is a "military-style assault weapon" that should not have been in the hands of civilians and that the gun companies knew, or should have known, the risk it posed.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Police say an Ohio man shot and wounded his own son after mistaking him for an intruder.

Officers responded to a Columbus home Tuesday morning for an unknown complaint.

When they arrived they say 51-year-old Biyaga Ceesay told them that a stranger had shot his son. Later, the man said he accidentally shot his son because he thought he was an intruder trying to rob the family.

The boy is hospitalized in stable condition and is expected to recover.

Concealed Carry Owner Accidentally Shoots Self, Woman at High School Graduation

According to police, a man attending a high school graduation in Kansas accidentally fired a pistol he had concealed in his sock on Sunday, shooting himself and a female bystander.

“It was uncomfortable for him,” Augusta Police Chief Tyler Brewer told The Wichita Eagle. “He went to adjust his sock, and the weapon went off, striking him in the foot.”

Describing the shooting as “a knuckleheaded situation,” Brewer said the man had a concealed carry permit but still broke the law by bringing the gun to the school.

Re: Gun Nut News

Donald Trump spoke in favor of gun rights at the National Rifle Association convention today, but security and staff at several of his prized hotels and golf courses told ABC News that guests are not allowed to carry guns there. The Trump Organization, meanwhile, claims that’s not true.

However.....Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s posh Florida club, doesn’t allow guns, a hotel staff member told ABC News.

Trump National Doral, in Miami, Florida, doesn’t allow guns either, a security official told ABC News. The resort would “much rather not” have guns on the property, said a security official with the hotel, who noted that guns are “not to be carried on our property.

”“We’ve had guests that have brought them before,” he said, but those guns “had to remain in their safe the whole time in the room.”

A security worker at Trump National in Jupiter, Florida, said “no” when asked if guns were allowed on premises by citizens who are licensed to carry them. Asked about exceptions for people like off-duty cops, the staff member directed ABC News to a supervisor, who said the hotel had no comment at all on guns at the property.

Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach County, Florida, also doesn’t allow citizens with concealed-carry licenses to bring their guns on the property, a golf-shop worker told ABC News.
