with Meryl Streep. Please somebody go and see this movie. It was a hoot and a lovely story of love. Hugh Grant is excellent and Streep never disappoints. But it's just a quirky subject. Be prepared for heavy open mouth dropping.

I didn't think it was out yet. I'm looking forward to seeing it...

Can't wait to see it.
There was a Broadway play about FFJ years ago.
Quite a story.

Wasn't it good Crossy? The ending was a little over-dramatized. Won't give it away but who cares? Was a good movie. Sam write what you think when you see it, ok?

do you have any idea what their age difference was? I didn't do any research on that but I felt that Mr Bayfield was much younger than "Lady Florence"

Yes, I am sure he was younger. I have heard that Hugh Grant is getting better reviews than Streep. I thought he was good but that good? Although I loved the dancing in the party scene. Made me want to join in.

that dancing was so much fun! who knew he had it in him?? Loved that scene!
I thought the 3 main characters did a fantastic job in this movie.
The bad singing wasn't just bad singing (which I could do!) but controlled bad singing which I imagine is not easy at all!

Wish there were more good films like this one.

Zeke, Burgo and I finally got to see the movie.
Neither of us are big Streep fans. We both feel she's overexposed.
(When I heard they were doing a remake of "Ben-Hur" I thought to myself 'not another vehicle for Meryl Streep'.)
However, she does deliver the goods.
We own every record (save one) FFJ ever recorded and we both felt Streep was perfection in imitating her voice, which is not easy.
There were a few things in the movie that never happened;Jenkins meeting Toscanini for instance and him presenting her with a recording he made with Lily Pons.
Hugh Grant did a decent job as her doting second husband and beneficiary of her wealth.
The biggest surprise was Simon Helberg from "The Big Bang Theory" who played Cosme McMoon, FFJ's loyal accompanist. He was superb.
I would recommend the movie to music lovers and Streep fans.

Dolly, You inspired me to go to YouTube and listen to Florence Foster Jenkins Sings "Adele's Laughing Song." Die Fledermaus.
I love this woman. (Jenkins) She had a lot of heart.
I had never heard of her before. I saw an interview with Streep and I know she went to Vassar. She said they played Jenkins' records in class all the time. So cool.
