Fog hanging over the waters surrounding Manhattan today. 72 degrees, climbing to the 80s and humid from what I hear. I think it's going to feel like July,
No ocean today but by golly I'll get there very soon. The sound of the ocean makes all the bad stuff in the world go away. It's just temporary but sometimes we just need a time-out.
Spunky I hope you are enjoying your pumpkins and mums....I bet teloug has pumpkins and mums, too.....and I have an image of NE sitting next to her AC. Lol.Sam....what's it like travelling west? Hot today?
Have a good one.

Re: Saturday, October 7, 2017

zeke... sounds like a nice day!  It was a damp sixty-five degrees today, more rain tomorrow through Tuesday.  The ocean calls to me too, didn't get to Maine this year, maybe next year.  We've had the longest foliage season in the history of the area, none of us thought we were going to have much color, but it actually turned around and is beautiful.  My son and his family were putting the boat away, along with all their beach toys this afternoon.  Love having pumpkins around every year, for the life of me I can't seem to keep mums alive for more than a few days, so I've given up on them.  Hope everyone had a nice day with a warm, cozy evening ahead.

Ok..I've had it !! Its HOT outside and its not cooling down. Damn skippy I was sitting next to the a/c Zeke LOL In fact I still am
The cat is sitting in front of the a/c-and you know cats love heat
So cool that you have pretty foliage, Teluog!
See some red in the young maples but very scarce and most of the mature trees are just burning up. I think we are officially in a drought too, so that won't help.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Re: Saturday, October 7, 2017

Hi everyone! As usual, I am late to the party.
I agree about the ocean, zeke.  It is so calming.
When I go to "the beach", it is Lake Michigan. Not as big as an ocean but it still has the same effect. I often go by myself and just enjoy the peacefulness (Although there are often far too many other beach goers ).  I enjoy being at the beach at sunset the best.  It is so beautiful.  From the beach here in Indian you can see Chicago in the distance.  That is pretty cool. But if you look in another direction you can see the steel mills pumping out pollution into the air.   It is the American way after all.

I know what you mean about mums, teluog. The thing that bugs me is if I buy them at the end of September & I actually do keep them alive, they die at the first frost anyway. It just seems like a big waste of money to me.  My pumpkins are almost done in my garden.  They did not grow as big as I has hoped. Mostly due to the very dry Summer we had.  Next year I am definitely buying a sprinkler.

Sorry you are suffering from heat, NES. It was really hot here for a bit yesterday. But there was a very strong breeze so it felt pretty good.  Plus it cools off so much at night these days.  My cats do not like high temps or humidity. They wilt until I turn on the AC.

I hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend. Today is laundry day for me.
