If he left his keys in the fridge, I’d say, “OK, he’s getting old.”
If he woke angry at three, I’d say, “OK, he has phantoms to scold.”
I get this. I’m a senior. I have phantoms, too, and lots of neuroses and plenty to rue
but, by God, he’s President,
not just a flashy, newsworthy resident.
His ideas don’t lie with psychosis or age,but come from a mind that is feverish with rage.
He’s just bad. Not emotionally stunted and amusingly frank
but rude, arrogant, thoughtless and rank.
Rich and protected, unaccustomed to sharing, venal, dishonest, crass and uncaring.
His temper has brought us to the brink of war.
His racism’s shaken our soul to its core.
His cavalier hate is an epic explosion that contributes to a daily implosion
of the values and norms we built with our blood.
His choler and ire drag us into the mud.
If we leave him in office, we become obeisant to a shell of a man who is simply not decent.

Sad and true.
