Hurricane Florence!

Carolina Beach, North Carolina (CNN)

Hurricane Florence is forecast to crawl up to the North Carolina coast late this week and turn slowly left -- a development that would smash the Tar Heel State with life-threatening storm surge, catastrophic winds and inundating rain while also endangering a large portion of South Carolina."This is not going to be a glancing blow. ...

This is going to be a Mike Tyson punch to the Carolina coast" from Thursday into the weekend, Federal Emergency Management Agency associate administrator Jeff Byard said Wednesday morning.

"Today is the last good day to evacuate," he warned.

Re: Hurricane Florence!

I just heard that it is predicted that the Carolina's are expected to get over 40 inches of rain....that's over 3 feet !! I can't even begin to imagine that much water....

So sorry for those people, I hope that they listened and left the area for higher ground...

Re: Hurricane Florence!

They talked with one couple with a young boy, they were staying in their house for the storm, I hope that little boy doesn't pay for their mistakes.

Re: Hurricane Florence!

The hurricane will soon slam the Carolinas, in what is estimated to be a 3-day event....

Wilmington is expected to get 8 months of rain totals during these 3 days...

Hoping there is no loss of life...

Re: Hurricane Florence!

Its been downgraded to a category 2, but its widening to include more areas in the south....sustained winds of 105 mph...

So I guess those categories don't mean too much

this always makes me furious.  If an adult chooses to stay put, they deserve to suffer the consequences.  But children have no choice.  If you want to stay put and "ride it out" then please send your children to safety!

Re: Hurricane Florence!

The storm's center is crawling inland over South Carolina, but its main rain bands largely are over already-saturated North Carolina -- setting up what may be days of flooding for some communities.

They are estimating that so far at least seven people have died as a result of this tremendous storm.

Re: Hurricane Florence!

Wow...sooo sad!

A North Carolina family's home is destroyed for the second time in less than 20 years due to hurricane flooding.Susan Bostic and her family gathered what few belongings they could carry and fled their home in Rocky Point, North Carolina, on Saturday. They crammed an enclosed trailer with beds, linens and other furniture, along with packing necessities like clothes and toiletries.
Their goal was to get to higher ground, where rising waters left in Hurricane Florence's wake wouldn't put Bostic, her son, daughter-in-law and their children in danger.
