WASHINGTON — The woman who has accused Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her more than 30 years ago has come forward, saying that during a high school party a drunken Mr. Kavanaugh pinned her on a bed, groped her and covered her mouth to keep her from screaming.

“I thought he might inadvertently kill me,” the woman, Christine Blasey Ford, a 51-year-old research psychologist at Palo Alto University in Northern California, said in an interview with The Washington Post. “He was trying to attack me and remove my clothing.”
Judge Kavanaugh, President Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court, has flatly denied the accusations in statements issued through the White House. On Friday, as word of the accusations began to circulate but his accuser’s identity was not publicly known, the White House released a letter from 65 women who said they knew Judge Kavanaugh in high school and could attest to his character.

But now Ms. Ford’s decision to put her name behind the accusations — made after weeks of reluctance — has quickly intensified the push by Democrats to delay Judge Kavanaugh’s Senate confirmation vote. The Post’s article included an interview with Ms. Ford’s husband and her lawyer, Debra Katz, and described a therapist’s notes from 2012 in which Ms. Ford told of the attack.

Ford originally contacted her representative in the House, California Democratic Rep. Anna Eshoo, whose office sent her letter to Feinstein.

A person familiar with Ford's story said that at around the time she sent Eshoo the letter, Ford discussed with friends how she might go public with her story. Over the past few months, Ford has felt pressure on a personal level to share her story and has grappled with the idea, which partly prompted the letter, the source said.

They are still waiting for a response from Christine Blasley Ford as to whether she will appear on Monday, to testify...

I also read this on CNN:

(CNN)Twenty-four women who attended the Holton-Arms School with Christine Blasey Ford have signed and sent a letter of support for her to Congress.The letter says the women are writing to attest to the "honesty, integrity, and intelligence" of Ford, who has accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her decades ago, and to support Ford "bringing this matter forward."

The women write that her decision to share her experience now is "not a partisan act" but an "act of civic duty."

I agree, otherwise it will be a three-ring circus of these horrible men yelling questions at her because they want this nomination to go forward.

The news of the day is that she and her attorney are still insisting on the FBI conducting an investigation before she will testify before this committee

why are they so afraid of an FBI investigation? They want to rush and demand that she testify on monday with out an investigation.

This poor woman is between a rock and a hard place. If she doesn't testify on monday, he wins--and can spin the story that it never happened and that's why she wouldn't testify. If she does testify, it's just her word against his. The White House and the rest of the party are determined to get him confirmed, so even if she testifies and there is no investigation (no other evidence that this happened, in other words) he'll be confirmed for sure.

I agree cossysmom....but her lawyers sent an email to Grassley indicating that she would be willing to testify, but not on Monday.

Here's what I read on CNN:

Washington (CNN)Christine Blasey Ford opened the possibility she would testify before Congress about her accusation of sexual assault against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

An email her lawyers sent to the Senate Judiciary Committee said Ford "would be prepared to testify next week" if the senators offer her "terms that are fair and which ensure her safety."

The message came a day ahead of a 10 a.m. Friday deadline set by Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley of Iowa for Ford to decide whether she would appear before a hearing he set for Monday.

Dr Ford's attorneys want her to testify next Thursday....and she wants him to testify first

They haven't come back with a reply, but what I read online was that they wanted it to be on Wednesday and that she testify first...

Don't know if anything is definite yet

Has anyone heard anything different?

They have granted her an extension until 2:30 Saturday (today) to respond to their counter-offer that would push back the scheduled Monday hearing.
