Crime continues to drop in New York City

Continuing a more than two decade decline in crime, New York City has cut the number of homicides to a fraction of the 2,000 in 1990.  For the second year, the city recorded less than 300 homicides.  There were less than 800 shootings and robberies, and burglaries fell to a record low.  There is one crime that's increased, rape, by 22 percent.  The Mayor thinks that might be because more women felt empowered to report the assaults to the police.  Bill de Blasio attributes the decline in crime to the department emphasis on better relations with minority communities and organized, neighborhood-based anti-violence efforts.  There were 94% fewer stop-and-frisk street encounters between police and city residents.

So much to do in the city. Let me know your choices. Hugh Jackman is very cool.
Check out the Signature Theater, right on 42nd Street. Tickets are reasonably priced...you can sit just outside the theaters and have drinks and food. The actors come out into this common area after the performances and sometimes sit down for food and drink as well. Nice bathrooms. Excellent theater. Very friendly ushers. Small theaters.
I just saw Fabulation or, The Re-Education of Undine by Lynn Nottage. FABULOUS!!!

Good to know Zeke. We're just in the talking about going stage. My daughter needs to confirm that we can stay with her friend and that we can get tickets. Now I may need to ask you about restaurants.
