RNC Chair says the party is cooked if they don't win in 2016

…”I think that we have become, unfortunately, a midterm party that doesn’t lose and a presidential party that’s had a really hard time winning,” Priebus said. “We’re seeing more and more that if you don’t hold the White House, it’s very difficult to govern in this country – especially in Washington D.C.”

“So I think that – I do think that we’re cooked as a party for quite a while as a party if we don’t win in 2016. So I do think that it’s going to be hard to dig out of something like that,” Priebus told the Examiner.

-----
Last President you had was originally elected in part by virtue of the Supreme Court deciding, on a 5-4 vote, that he won. Then he started the biggest clusterf*ck since at least the Vietnam War, based on intentional lies, resulting in the deaths of so many.

-Since then, your electoral strategy is to do nothing. Nothing. The only goal wasn't to govern; it was to yell loudly about how people should be scared (of gays, of people taking guns, of abortions) and prevent that black guy from winning a second term. Oh, in addition to doing nothing, you shut down the government if anyone decided to try and do anything, because forget doing what you were elected for. The sick part is that strategy worked in the midterms, and you got rewarded for not governing.

-Now you can't even decide on a Speaker because the one vaguely competent Speaker you had told everyone to go screw themselves when it became impossible to stop the party from kowtowing to the fringe right. Note, that the "fringe" here shares the same "to hell with the poor, starve the beast, give to the rich and demonize the underpriveleged" ideology, but just differ slightly on how blatantly to do that.

Maybe, just maybe, you're the problem?

IKR? And isn't this all coming from the same guy who issued a "Postmortem" after the last national elections, made a series of recommendations about opening up the party platform, and declaring that the party would be in serious trouble if it didn't? Why then has the party doubled down on all of its mistakes, and why can't it handle a few loud and rowdy activists within the party itself?
The RNC Chair position itself is becoming less and less relevant along with the party. What happened to the discipline? What happened to the desire for pursuing governance?------Oh right. The Tea Party happened.

Thank you so much! That was an excellent article. Very interesting to hear about the people who are orchestrating things behind the scenes but have zero national profile.

Also thought this paragraph said it well:

"Eric Cantor, the former House majority leader, himself ousted by Tea Party forces in a primary last year, counters that House hard-liners just don't comprehend the GOP's strategic weakness, in the face of the Democratic filibuster and presidential veto: "I have never heard of a football team that won by throwing only Hail Mary passes," Cantor wrote following Boehner's ouster, "yet that is what is being demanded of Republican leaders today."
-

In other words, they've let the party get completely hijacked by the right wing fringe...Tea Party/Freedom Caucus et al.

Agreed. The party is really trying to hide the truth of their inner turmoil, but it is getting to the point that their "civil war" is about to hit it's ultimate crescendo. The left went through this more than a decade ago & they acknowledged the problems & problematic ppl in their party & decided to move the party in a different direction. The right is too arrogant & can never admit fault, so this may very well free us of the GOP permanently or at very least several elections.

not sure what they can do with the "Freedom Caucus" and it don't look like they are going to go away, but the GOP Invited them in to the party and now they have took over the party.
