Rubio said that the country’s problems were too significant for him to wait around, finish his term, and run for president in the future. I agree with him and I'm sure Obama can appreciate that answer.
Then after Bush tried to slam him for not showing up to work, Rubio said I don’t remember you ever complaining about John McCain’s voting record.
Any candidate running for President is going to be absent from their job whether it's Governor or Senator so I;m not sure why the Florida paper questioned him on it or why it was so important to bring up in the debate tonight. Considering the short time they have and the large number of candidates on the stage, the moderators sure aren't using their time wisely.
The Florida paper called him out because they originally endorsed him. They supported him and have been disappointed by how little time he has spent in his home state, and how little is being done for his constituents. The voting is just the icing on the cake. I saw an interview on CNN this morning where they laid out everything that Rubio had let them down on, and why they wanted him to step down. They are right to want a Senator who has their best interests at heart, and clearly Rubio is only thinking of Rubio at this point.
He really had no answer except that he doesnt like the job and he wants a different one. Oh, and that other people did it too so it's ok for him.

I wonder how his constituents felt about Senator Obama back in 2007. Apparently he didn't like his job either.

You just made my point for me. When your only defense is "well, that guy did it too!" you're on thin ice.

Can you explain why it's terrible that Rubio hasn't spent much time in Florida but the media didn't seem to mind when Obama or even McCain did the same thing. I think he has a valid point and fair arguement. Do you disagree?

I don't disagree at all. If you don't remember, Obama was slammed for it very hard during the primary. Rubio should be too. He doesn't get a free pass because some other people behaved poorly in the past.

Obama wasn't slammed by the media just the Repulicans. There was never a question from the media.
And he certainly wasn't questioned about it by a moderator in a debate. lol

But isn't that what I have heard lately, "the media needs to listen to the people and report on what they want"? and that "issues the people are interested in are finally being talked about"? I don't think you can have it both ways, it was either wrong for none or all. While I agree this debate and especially the moderators were terrible.

Not sure what you're talking about.

The Republicans wanted voting records discussed, so this debate addressed that. This debate was held by the media.

There were many questions from the media, and he was asked a question during the first debate with McCain. He was also asked about it during his second Townhall meeting with Romney. The fact that people remember it just underscores how much it was in the news.
And another sidenote, most of Obama's time in the Senate was missed during a two month period. Rubio has been missing work for months and months and the campaign has just started. He's on pace to beat everyone's record.

Oh, for cripes sake, it's very common when you're in public office and running a campaign for President to be absent. Just like Rubio pointed out...........Obama, Kerry, McCain went on to miss an even bigger share of Senate votes as the election progressed, which is expected of a someone who has a day job in government. Bush is an idiot!
AP Fact check........."From Oct. 27, 2014, to Oct. 26, 2015, Rubio was absent for 26 percent of Senate votes, a worse attendance record than other senators running for president. But in a comparable period in the 2008 race, from Oct. 23, 2006 to Oct. 22, 2007, Obama was absent for 29 percent of votes, a bit more than Rubio's absences, but not as much as Rubio charged. Republican John McCain was absent for 51 percent of Senate votes in that period. Both Obama and McCain went on to miss an even bigger share of Senate votes as the election progressed......an expected development bound to be seen again in 2016."

Yet others who are running manage to show up and also vote. I guess it's a matter of priorities and that's something the voters will have to consider. Who wants another Palin, who shows up ready to do the job but flakes out halfway through because he doesn't like the gig? Keep in mind it's a bigger issue with Rubio, because there are claims he has neglected his constituents, and because he has admitted he doesn't like the Senate job and that's why he doesn't show up a lot of the time. That is much different than his predecessors who missed votes solely due to campaign committments..

He sure did, but I think Rubio is trying to avoid comparisons to Obama.
I don't think "Thanks Obama" will work for him.

right Rubio is avoid comparisons to Obama

To be honest I do think Rubio is being beat up on unfairly for being gone alot. The fact is the Legislative branch has been largely unproductive. Also, it is common for a Senator or Representative to be gone a lot when they they are compaigning. I think this is a false issue designed to bash him with.

I agree that it is kind of petty, but I have to say that the GOP has reaped what it sowed. They went after others for their record in the Senate and that means these candidates are fair game for the same type of scrutiny and criticism.

So you're ok with those that go after Obama for his decisions and actions. He has spent plenty of time blaming the Republicans for things he has has done himself. He and the Dems can reap what they have sowed. Both sides do the same thing and it just goes around and around. No need to make excuses for the Dems.

I've never had a problem with people who have legitimate criticism of Obama's decisons. His actions are another discussion. I've seen him criticized for chewing gum and wearing jeans. So I'd say that's in the "reap what you sow' department of petty criticism. That level of insults reached a new low among the Republicans during Obama's admin.

Wait now. How did this become about the Dems? It is members of the GOP and Rubios opponents in the presidential race who are getting on him for not being there enough. I don't think any dems have complained about it. Obama has been bashed for everything and everything. Many of the things he has been criticized for has been done by all his predecessors and it was never an issue until Obama has done it. Right now Rubios opponents need something to criticize him for and that is all they have at this point. It is nothing but a political ploy.

LOL Good point. No matter what the issue, it's still Obama's fault.
