Supporters/Running 2.23miles on the Birthday of a Man Killed/Jogging
Supporters will gather virtually Friday to mourn Ahmaud Arbery, a black man who was fatally shot while jogging in February, by putting on their sneakers and posting on social media to say #IRunWithMaud.
Arbery, 25, was jogging in a neighborhood outside Brunswick, Georgia, on February 23 when he was chased down by a former police officer and his son who were armed, authorities said. Arbery was shot after struggling with the son over his shotgun, according to a Glynn County Police report. The former officer later told officers that he thought Arbery looked like a suspect in a series of nearby break-ins, the report said.
Jason Vaughn was Arbery's high school football coach. Now, he is asking supporters to honor Arbery by going for a run of 2.23 miles, representing the date of his death on Friday, which would have been his birthday. He asks that runners document their run and post it to social media under the hashtag #IRunWithMaud.

Here's an update:
(CNN)Two men involved in the fatal shooting of Ahmaud Arbery near Brunswick, Georgia, have been arrested and face murder and aggravated assault charges, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Gregory McMichael and his son, Travis McMichael, were taken into custody and will be booked into the Glynn County Jail, the GBI said Thursday evening.
The GBI said in a tweet it would hold a news conference Friday at 9 a.m. ET to discuss the case. It did not say when the McMichaels would appear in court.
The arrests come two days after a 36-second video that appears to show the deadly confrontation surfaced online.
Benjamin Crump, an attorney for Arbery's father, said it was outrageous that it took more than two months for the father and son to be arrested.
"It's a travesty of justice that they enjoyed their freedom for 74 days after taking the life of a young black man who was simply jogging.
Yet, tomorrow, on Ahmaud's birthday, his parents are denied the simple joy of celebrating with their son," he said.

Trump doesn't care. That man was chased and shot by 2 men who seized the opportunity to kill a black man in cold blood. I don't know who recorded the murder and why the video was aired.....but why did it take so long?

Jogging while black. I would believe that every time a black person puts on a facemask to protect themselves from the virus, it must run through their minds that it's just another target for someone to take a shot at them for no reason.

This is true, teluog. Thank God for the celebs and many people who spoke up. Otherwise these men would still be free.

Not too long ago I walked into a liquor store with about 3 young black men. I was wondering what they were thinking as they masked up to go in. This must be a very strange time for young black men in this country...more strange than it is for this old white woman!! LOL
