This is a perfect example of the "War on Christmas" and the persecution of Christians in this country.

Somehow demanding that one religion be recognized above all others constitutes religious freedom. Screw everyone else.

Smh is how I get when I hear "war on Christmas" or "Christian persecution". Entitled is the perfect word to describe those who claim it.
Hmmmm.....War on Christmas? Trees? No that is pagan. The date? No that is also pagan. What exactly makes this Christmas? Because a group stole pagan traditions so ppl would convert to Christianity?
War on Christmas? Are Christians the only group to have celebration or practice their religion this time of year? Absolutely not. Jews(hanukkah), Buddhist(Rohatsu) wiccan/pagan(Litha & Yule) recognize a word there? Yule? Another stolen idea. Islam(Mawlid an Nabi) & Zoroastrian(Zarathosht). All of these religions celebrate holy days in December, but according to some Christians these religions are not important enough to acknowledge & if we do it some how persecutes Christians. I call it a tantrum.
You don't want to get me started on the persecution bit. Just have a look at certain state's constitutions regarding atheists then come back & tell me Christians are being persecuted in this country !

Not to mention that there are presidential candidates who don't think an atheist if fit for office. Christian persecution? Give me a break.

This whole fake controversy is so damn irritating. This whole season really ticks me off. Certain people complain about a war on Christmas and it's like really? Because I can't leave me damn house through the whole months of November and December without having it shoved down my throat. There is a certain entitlement that Christians have in this country that they don't even realize they have because until recently it has never been challenged. Now we're trying to be more inclusive as a society and they see it as a personal attack. Guess what it's not an attack! Actually it has very little to do with you and everything to do with the fact that people are finally standing up and saying we are not a Christian nation. We are nation of different religions, cultures, and ideals and one faction isn't going to be the only ones getting recognition anymore.
Sorry but because of what I do for a living I hear this literally all through the end of the year. It is non-stop for me. I hear it at work, I hear it on tv, I hear it on the radio. I can't escape it! Lol.

We hear you, Jd. Lol.

ITA JD. Christmas carols playing at the mall, Santa Claus Parades, national holidays, decorations everywhere (including some public buildings), non-stop commercials on tv...but you take the reindeers off a coffee cup and it's a war on Christians. THAT'S the level of entitlement some people truly have.

and now the has spoken on this :
“Did you read about Starbucks?” Trump asked in front of a Springfield, Illinois crowd on Monday. “No more Merry Christmas on Starbucks.”Trump concluded by assuring supporters “Merry Christmas” would make its comeback with him in the White House.“If I become president, we’re all going to be saying, ‘Merry Christmas’ again. That I can tell you.”
REALLY? Because some evangelical nutjob posted a video on FB and the rabid right ran with it?
Oh, and Starbucks stock is up over the last 2 days LOL
(btw I am not a fan of overpriced hipster coffee but I applaud their decision not to suck up the right freaky fringe)

I agree too!..We've been bombarded with Christmas music since before Halloween...I went to the store to get Halloween decorations BEFORE Halloween....and it was all relegated to a corner at 50% off....and all that was beautifully displayed were the Christmas decorations.
I do enjoy Christmas and the festivities that go along with it, but that was just too early...
There is no war on Christmas...not that I have seen.

Trump isn't stupid. He's dishonest, but he's clever. He's playing the far right, evangelical base...like a fiddle.

If Christians should be mad about anything it should be the over saturation of Christmas. In the US Christmas is essentially no longer a religious holiday, it is a commercial one. I feel pretty safe saying that the majority of the US celebrates Christmas and that a pretty huge chunk of people who do aren't Christians. It's more about the Christmas specials, putting up the tree, buying presents. That is what Christmas has turned into in the Americas. If anyone took the Christ out of Christmas it is the fault of the Chrisitans that insist Christmas be every where.

I agree! and by his statement he's blaming the White House...because after all and ONLY according to him and his crazy followers...a Muslim resides there. DT is a trouble maker..

This issue is just insulting on so many levels. First this is a private business. They should be allowed to have any cups they choose. Those offended can simply decide to not pay $5 for a small coffee. There is no discrimination here. Not only that, the cups are RED and GREEN.
The saying Happy Holidays includes Christmas. A government entity should always say Happy Holidays. If a private business chooses to have their employees say Happy Holidays, that is their choice. You can always say Merry Christmas as an individual.
