Good Morning November 18, 2015

Morning everyone.  Happy Humpday!

It is cool & drizzly here. It is hard to believe that the holiday season is fast approaching. I kind of want to do the holidays a bit different this year. Less consumerism and much more appreciation for what I have. We are so lucky to live in America (and Canada ).  To live somewhere that we can be free, safe and well fed. We can speak our minds without fear.

I feel so bad for all the refugees.  To be fleeing terror (like most of us has never known) and have angry people telling you that you can not come to safety. Those poor children that have never known anything but fear. I wish people could have more compassion. I find it embarrassing that so many Governors have spoken out to refuse refugees in their states.  I am grateful that President Obama has a better understanding about what is happening. It just seems that this country always is quick to respond to crisis with war, instead of finding a more compassionate response. Just imagine where we'd be right now if John McCain was President or Mitt Romney. I am grateful that the POTUS has more sense than to send our ground troops in for yet another war.  There has to be a better way.

Good Morning Sam and everyone!..

What a great post Sam...and I totally agree...

My America is already great....and I am also grateful for my life which includes my great family and friends.

Quote for today: Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends.....By Maya Angelou
Enjoy you Wednesday everyone!

Thanks Sam!!

Re: Good Morning November 18, 2015

Good morning all. I agree with all of your sentiments on this thread. Yesterday when I heard Christie say he wouldn't even accept a 5 year old Syrian orphan, I had to turn off the tv. That was enough news for me for the day.

I remember when I was a little kid and first started learning about the holocaust and how Jews were made to wear the symbol, and couldn't go to certain areas, and finally were rounded up on to trains....I remember just thinking "how could the world ever go so completely crazy? How could a whole country basically believe that was ok and follow their leader into that darkness?"....and then I always reassured myself that it would never happen again.

I hate to fall into the trap of Godwin's Law and go all nazi Germany references here, but you can't escape the similarities. A group of people being ostracized due to their religion. It's happening again and it's happening in North America.

I am ashamed to be of the same species as some of these people. I will never ever look at Chris Christie et al with anything other than pure disgust.

Ahhh, sorry to rant but I feel much better now.

So I think I'll go to the grocery store and get the ingredients for tikka masala (veggie version), turn on some music, and maybe even have a glass of wine. It's nice enough out that slightly tipsy mommy can walk the kids home from school. (<----Mother-of-The-Year)

I promised my hubby I wouldn't turn on the news all day today. At first I was grumpy but nowI feel better already.

Have a good day all!
