Baltimore Key Bridge collapses after ship collision !
- Six people are unaccounted for following the collapse of Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge, according to officials. Rescue teams continue to search for missing people in the water.
- Eight people were on the bridge when a cargo ship crashed into it early Tuesday. Two of them were saved from the water earlier today.
- The crew on the ship issued a “mayday” call before it collided with the bridge, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore said. Video shows the collapseof the 1.6-mile-long, four-lane bridge after it was hit by the vessel.
- The bridge extends over the Patapsco River and serves as the outermost crossing of the Baltimore harbor. It is an essential link of Interstate-695, or the Baltimore Beltway.
- President Biden said the federal government will bear the full cost of rebuilding the bridge after its collapse. “I expect the Congress to support my effort,” he said from the White House.

- Six people are unaccounted for after a massive container ship lost power early Tuesday before crashing into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, causing it to collapse along with people and vehicles, officials said.
- Two people were pulled from the Patapsco River, the Baltimore fire chief said. One was not injured and the other was taken to a local trauma center in “very serious condition,” the fire chief said.
- Ahead of the collision, the crew notified officials with a "mayday" call that allowed authorities to stop traffic before impact and likely saved lives, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore said.
