Re: #stopgunviolence

This is what I don't understand about the "gun people". You can't buy or sell a car anywhere in the US without a government entity showing a transfer of title, to and from one person/business to another.  Why in the world would we NOT do the same thing for guns?

You're using a rational, intelligent argument...that the 'gun people' don't follow....and being rational or smart is NOT who they are.

Re: #stopgunviolence

Danyi, it is a very visceral thing with gun people.  They view any change, anything at all, as the first step to disarming everyone and leading them into slavery and tyranny.  They will not acknowledge at all that there is a problem here, and it is not just about mass killings.  Some yahoo gets a hair across their butt about the way his steak is cooked and takes out his family.  I have tried with my own family, many who are staunch lifetime members of the NRA, to get across to them that not everyone should own a gun, and I get a hand in my face to stop.  They all, each of them, think of themselves as the "good guys".  As my cousin, who I love dearly, explained to me "These terrible things are the price that we must pay for the most precious right to own a gun".  That is hard for me to swallow, and I can only hope that they keep the damage among themselves.  But that is not what happens.

Excellent wording/explanation- Visceral is exactly right (and wrong)
