Concerning the difference between global warming and weather.....
Unless you're keeping secrets, you're neither a scientist or a meteorologist, so why not listen to the scientists?
97% of the scientists surveyed agreed that global temperatures had increased during the past 100 years; 84% said they personally believed human-induced warming was occurring, and 74% agreed that "currently available scientific evidence" substantiated its occurrence.
NASA - What's the Difference Between Weather and Climate?
The difference between weather and climate is a measure of time. Weather is what conditions of the atmosphere are over a short period of time, and climate is how the atmosphere "behaves" over relatively long periods of time.
Understanding the difference between climate and weather
Weather is what’s happening outside the door right now; today a snowstorm or a thunderstorm is approaching.
Climate, on the other hand, is the pattern of weather measured over decades.
Perhaps you are relying on FOX news and Rush Limbaugh for your info?
Not a good idea.
For example:
On climate change, "the temperature readings have been fabricated, and it's all blowing up in their (scientists') faces."— Dana Perino on Monday, February 9th, 2015 in a broadcast of "The Five" on Fox News
Then there's Limbaugh...
One of his sources on global warming and climate change is a 13 year old boy named Alex.
Rush Limbaugh Touts 13-Year-Old Who ‘Proved’ Global Warming Is A Hoax
RUSH: You mean…? Hold it just second. Alex, you’re at the health food store, and it’s cold out there. It’s March. You’re there in March, it’s cold, and two people in there are surprised that it’s cold because it’s global warming outside?
CALLER: Exactly.
RUSH: And they still concluded, “Well, we’re still in global warming”?
CALLER: Yes.
RUSH: But they were shocked. This is hilarious. You know, Alex, there are none so blind as those who will not see, and that’s what you’re running up against. Where did you find this evidence? How hard was it for you to research?
CALLER: It wasn’t that hard to learn it. There is pretty much a lot of evidence that you can find. I personally just went to the local library and looked up books. That’s what I did.
RUSH: You went to the library?
CALLER: Yeah.
RUSH: You didn’t use a computer?
CALLER: No, I didn’t. Well, yeah, my mom got me one article from the computer. Yeah.
RUSH: Wow. I’m surprised you find evidence of this at the library. That’s heartening. Why did you want to do this? What made you doubt the people who believe that there’s global warming?
CALLER: Well, over the radio we listen to different things. I’ve heard lots of evidence that man-made global warming is a hoax. And since I’m doing speeches, I thought it was a very interesting topic. I want to learn more about this. I guess I just always doubted that. There’s so much evidence that global warming is not man-made.
So Alex, a "Rush" fan stumbled onto climate denier talking points?
No surprise there. Nearly all climate denier books have ties to conservative "think" tanks.
A recent study found that only 24 peer reviewed articles on the subject reject global warming, compared to 13,926 scientific articles that substantiate it.

Ugh so many of your posts have me doing this after reading them. Ppl who deny climate change are Want & Ignorance.
"This boy is Ignorance. This girl is Want. Beware them both, and all of their degree; but most of all beware this boy, for on his brow I see that written which is Doom, unless the writing be erased.-Dickens
We may not be speaking of poverty, but the message is just the same.

I feel the same way. I cannot believe there are still people denying science. Almost the entire world is on board with working to slow climate change...with the exception of the GOP in America. What does that tell you?

It screams GREED & EGO!

Michaely,
I have no idea when you studied science in college. My guess would be long before element 115 made it to the periodic table.
Much research has been done more recently and that is why MOST (an overwhelming majority) of scientists acknowledge that global warming is real.

The bubble is very thick for this one! I spent and evening on the old board using source after source that countered her argument that the "Weapons of Mass destruction" that we went to war over in Iraq HAD/HAVE been found. I explained to her that had they been found it would have been plastered all over the news, and Cheney et al. would have been on every network crowing "we were right". I finally just gave up because facts did not mean a damn thing to her.

dany, you're so right.
These are the same people that would swallow the BS that man and dinosaurs inhabited the earth at the same time.

Excerpt from the New York Times article.
After the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Mr. Bush insisted that Mr. Hussein was hiding an active weapons of mass destruction program, in defiance of international will and at the world’s risk. United Nations inspectors said they could not find evidence for these claims.
Then, during the long occupation, American troops began encountering old chemical munitions in hidden caches and roadside bombs. Typically 155-millimeter artillery shells or 122-millimeter rockets, they were remnants of an arms program Iraq had rushed into production in the 1980s during the Iran-Iraq war.
All had been manufactured before 1991, participants said. Filthy, rusty or corroded, a large fraction of them could not be readily identified as chemical weapons at all. Some were empty, though many of them still contained potent mustard agent or residual sarin. Most could not have been used as designed, and when they ruptured dispersed the chemical agents over a limited area, according to those who collected the majority of them.
In case after case, participants said, analysis of these warheads and shells reaffirmed intelligence failures. First, the American government did not find what it had been looking for at the war’s outset, then it failed to prepare its troops and medical corps for the aged weapons it did find.
It seems that conservatives didn't actually read the NYT article that THEY claim the WMD WE WENT TO WAR OVER had been found.

You have got to be kidding me. They are not still beating this dead horse! Even Bush admits there were no WMDs. I cannot believe people will be so willfully ignorant and ignore the truth just to push their agenda. How insecure can you be that you need to push lies about the biggest military mistake in the history of America?
I guess it fits with their anti-science, post-truth agenda. Climate change doesn't exist, evolution didn't happen because we still have monkeys, fracking and fossil fuels are the safe way to go, poison the water to save a dime, the President is coming for your guns (bear with him, it's taking a while...), PP is an "abortion complex"....I could go on for pages. I cannot believe it has actually come to this in the USA.

I can only surmise they read things on right wing blogs and don't actually read the articles the blogs quote as "proof". The Times article clearly points out the WMD we went to war over were never found. The point of the article is the US did not prepare the troops for the OLD degraded and leaking munitions that would eventually be found. It has NOTHING to do with the WMD that Bush launched a war over. As I've pointed out, does anyone really think Bush, Cheney, Rumsfield, et al. would not be crowing at the top of their lungs "we were right".
Nope, you will not find one quote from them saying anything about finding WMD.

No, they're not still beating this dead horse. Danyi brought it up and talking about it.

And here's Fox News' little darling Megyn Kelly, ripping into Cheney for the lie. I guess MIcheley better get on the phone to Fox and Megyn and let them know they have it all wrong.
Kelly challenged Cheney, charging, "Time and time again, history has proven that you got it wrong. You said there was no doubt Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction …"
Gosh you'd think Cheney would have corrected her, instead he changed the subject. I guess he doesn't know either. I hope Micheley has his number too.

Well, maybe with all this evidence they will finally concede they "read" the article wrong. Both Bush and Cheney certainly have reiterated that there were no WMD.

Clearly they're hung up on the 2009 declaration that Iraq had two bunkers with filled and unfilled chem weapons and former chemical weapons production facilities (per OPCW Director General Rogelio Pfirter).
The declaration contained no surprises, OPCW spokesman Michael Luhan indicated. The production facilities were "put out of commission" by airstrikes during the 1991 conflict, while U.N. personnel afterward secured the chemical munitions in the bunkers. Luhan stated at the time: "These are legacy weapons, remnants."
If they honestly have convinced themselves that those were the WMDs that American soldiers died for....I don't know what to tell them or what would convince them.

Actually, you are mistaken, Michaely created an entire thread devoted to it. Are you suggesting she didn't?

I was under the impression that there was a whole thread devoted to correcting danyi on View's board. I'll have to grab my hubby's phone and take a look later.....meh....maybe not. I get a little sick reading that board.

I just looked, still there. I certainly can't create threads there, so clearly they brought it up by creating a thread about it.

I wonder if some the Trump followers know what the Donald has said about Bush and Iraq? They seem to believe everything he says. Here are just a few quotes by him:
In the Oct. 15, 2008 CNN interview, Trump declared that Pelosi “absolutely” should have impeached Bush “for the war” and flatly accused Bush of knowingly manipulating popular opinion and lying about national security information.“He lied,” the 69-year-old real estate tycoon charged. “He got us into the war with lies.”“Bush got us into this horrible war with lies, by lying, by saying they had weapons of mass destruction, by saying all sorts of things that turned out not to be true,” Trump also insisted. In the same interview, the Republican presidential candidate gushed about his respect and admiration for Pelosi.
" Look, everything in Washington has been a lie. Weapons of mass destruction. Was a total lie. A way of attacking Iraq, which he thought was going to be easy and it turned out it was the exact opposite."
"The day we pull out, it is going to explode." "Because they are in a civil war, whether we want to admit it or not."
"You know, I was the one, and I said it very strongly, and you know this, and it was reported by everybody, because unfortunately, I get a disproportionate amount of publicity. But in 2004, I said, ‘Don’t go into Iraq,’ and earlier, 2003, ‘Don’t go into Iraq. You’re going to totally destabilize the Middle East.’”
"What was the purpose of the whole thing? Hundreds and hundreds of young people killed. And what about the people coming back with no arms and no legs? Not to mention the other side. All those Iraqi kids who've been blown to pieces. And it turns out that all of the reasons for the war were blatantly wrong. All this for nothing!"
The Donald who is an expert on everything knows there were no WMD. I wonder why some of his is folllower don't?

For some reason Trump supports seem to wear blinders when it comes to things The Don
has said in the past. They must has selective hearing.
