Finally Figured It Out

I was just reading through the GOP debate thread over at the nest and I think I'm on to something.

During almost every discussion one or more of the cuckoos brings up drinking.
Why so much booze talk?

One of the crones is sick with a sore throat and said it's hard for her to swallow.
Another suggested she should drink tea with honey and then go back to drinking

I'm beginning to think Micha's Pretend Martini Bar is code for the AA group they belong to.
Of course, there's a slight chance I'm wrong, but the signs are there.

I just did some quick research and found that seniors aren't immune to alcohol abuse.
Take the case of Uncle George and Grandma Betty:

Uncle George always liked his liquor, so his family didn't see that his drinking was getting worse as he got older. Grandma Betty was a teetotaler all her life until she started having a drink each night to help her get to sleep  after her husband died. Now, she needs a couple of drinks to get through each day.

These are common stories. The fact is that families, friends, and healthcare workers often overlook their concerns about older people drinking. Sometimes trouble with alcohol in older people is mistaken for other conditions related to aging, for example, a problem with balance.

But, how the body handles alcohol can change with age. You may have the same drinking habits, but your body has changed.Alcohol may act differently in older people than in younger people. Some older people can feel “high” without increasing the amount of alcohol they drink. This “high” can make them more likely to have accidents, including falls and fractures.

As in, "I've fallen and I can't get up".

Re: Finally Figured It Out

Iggoz disappears for weeks at a time? Drying out?

Bunny gets "tight" and tells Indigo off. Indy hasn't been around since.

If they're not a bunch of drunks, they may be a gaggle of "dry drunks";people with chemical dependency issues who has given up alcohol and drugs, but made no internal emotional or behavioral changes. Essentially, the only difference in these individuals is the absence of a substance.

A good analogy “…if you sober up a horse thief, what do you get? A sober horse thief.”
