Adult Coloring Books

Not *that* kind of "adult"  I have obviously been under a rock, in a cave..(maybe I was in a coma) or otherwise obsessed because I did not know that these are a THING now! Do any of you do this? There are tons of books and sites and pages dedicated to coloring books for adults as a " stress reliever for mommies" WTF ??????????? I saw some really intricate designs all ready to be colored in.  Added bonus I read was its "its screen free activity" that you can do with your kiddos or grandkiddos ( I assume they are coloring Barney or Frozen ) while you color the grown up ones. I'm still

Re: Adult Coloring Books

I recently heard about this...and just wonder if it works to de-stress any stress related issues that a person may have.

I rather walk to de-stress, although with this frigid weather the only walking I've done is to my kitchen..lol

Ok...maybe I'll try it.....nah...just kidding....

Interested to hear how our team members here feel about this...and if they've tried it

Re: Adult Coloring Books

I am the "stare at the fish tank" kind of person. While I do not own one I sit in front of one whenever possible. Great stress relievers. They are in a lot of hospitals. Adult coloring books have no appeal for me. Lol.

Re: Adult Coloring Books

I LOVE my adult colouring books. My brother bought me one a couple of years ago...it was Mandalas and other symbols...because he knows how impatient I am and that the one thing I hate most in the world is waiting. Growing up with me he knew I could use it to de-stress during these situations and now I rely on them.

I have a whole selection, got some new ones at Xmas, and also bought one for my SIL and she loves it too. I always have one in the car. If the van breaks down and I have to wait....I colour. If I'm in the doctor's office and it's going to be a while, I pull out my book and colour. If I'm anxious about something or waiting for an important phone call...I colour. I find it therapeutic in the same way that I find yoga and meditation relaxing. They're all ways to reduce tension and just do something mindless but kind of fun.

I also love to colour with the kids. They'll get my special colouring books along with their own and we all get to work. It's fun. Give it a try!

Re: Adult Coloring Books

I bought a few books and colored pencils and I color.  I do other things too for stress, but I enjoy coloring!

Re: Adult Coloring Books

Ah people who weren't under a rock! Yay ! So, Shiny I imagine it would be like carrying a book, or my ex step sister knits and she always carries a knitting project wherever she goes. I see all of these as de-stressors in waiting situations which makes sense-refocuses the "energy" so the coloring makes sense. I saw the Mandela designs and quite honestly, I am the type to create those vs color them, which also de-stresses LOL
Color on !!!
