One of my favorite months. It's full of wonderful art exhibits, concerts, lectures, and more. Some of the most talented people come out of the woodwork and make appearances in local libraries and other public venues.

Mine also. And if you are stuck inside-all the good classic "black" movies are on LOL

Yes they are. I watched "Pinky" the other night. What a classic. Ethel Waters, Ethel Barrymore, and Jeanne Crain. I would love to know the story surrounding the making of that film. Was interesting topic and one that lots of people are curious about. Who pushed that film through?

I've never seen some of these movies that they are showing this month....It's great that they are doing that....but they should be shown/available the rest of the year too...not just in February.

I like Black History Month also. I especially like it when the Grade School kids are learning about Black History, something we did not learn much about back in the day. It is nice to see children learn about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the fight for Civil Rights. I love listening to them discuss their wonder that times were so different, not so long ago.
I am lucky to live in an area that Black History Month is taken seriously. I can imagine that in some areas of the country, people do not look too kindly on Black History Month. I hope there comes a day that Black History is incorporated into the regular history curriculum. But with the way that some areas of the country like to rewrite history, I doubt that will happen.

I hear you Sam. I agree. But I kind of like the month of Feb because otherwise I forget to do some things like buy a special piece of art or watch a special film. That's me. I kind of miss when the stores were not open on Sundays because it made people stop and cool down one day per week. How many days in a week do we need to shop?
I am happy too that I don't live in a state where slaves are now referred to as "workers'. What a joke. Those kids are in for a shock if they ever relocate.
Agree Spunky......
