Needs it was not as cut & dry as that. The court ruled in favor of Zimmerman but it was not "proven". Many of the witnesses were questionable & not all were allowed to testify. Much of Zimmerman's actions were not questioned due to the "Stand your Ground" law. Much of the case was based on George Zimmerman's recollections of the night. Since Trayvon can never speak for himself again, there will always be doubt IMO.

I never believed Zimmerman's version of things, but apparently the ADA (district attorney) did not do a good job in downing playing his version of things....and he was acquitted. There are many thugs and murderers walking around free...doesn't mean they weren't guilty.
But I still say he killed Trayvon...and he did it with intent of doing just that. He wanted to be the neighborhood hero....and it didn't work out that way..
.Z will always be a thug in my eyes and he has proven me right over and over. I wonder how many women he has beat up recently, or the punching of old men, or the pointing of guns at others....And I wonder what he did with all that money that was donated by people?
Thug is what he is...true definition of one. His day will come and we will all be able to finally see what he really is about....a killer

The fact that he was home at one point and went back to confront Zimmerman was proven in court. That is why I believe that is what happened. His friend testified to it.

I did not remember that Needs. Since I did follow the case quite extensively, I just looked it up & they constructed 3 different timelines about what happened because they are using testimony & phone records to piece the timeline together. In one of the timelines they speculated that Trayvon was on the path home & looped back around to confront Zimmerman. But it does not even speculate that he was at home & came back to confront Zimmerman. You called it a fact but in reality isn't it just a supposition? One of three different theories of what may have happened.

OK Needs. Not going to argue with you. I do not believe that narrative. If Zimmerman had not been acting like a wanna be cop, he would not have followed Trayvon to begin with. If he had went back to his truck, like he was told, Trayvon would be alive today.
This is exactly why BLM was formed. Some believe justice was not served.

I am not going to argue either Sam but I will say that it was not proved during the trial that Trayvon made it home & went back & confronted Zimmerman & certainly Rachel Jeantel didn't testify to that & vehemently denied it in interviews after the trial....And in my opinion, there were no prosecutors in that case.. The fact that State Prosecutor Angela Corey made it known in the beginning that she really didn't want to prosecute this case & she subsequently proved that when she & her team put on a case that was pro defense..The fact that they introduced Zimmerman's police interview tapes in their case in chief, therefore making it unnecessary for Zimmerman to testify was NOT something any first year prosecutor would do!!! I can't count the number of lawyers that stated during the trial that it seemed like the Prosecutors were working for the defense!! And the handling of that case as well as Prosecutors refusing to indict or using the Grand Jury to seek non-indictments instead of indictments(which is extremely unusual) are examples of why the slogan "Black Lives Matter" was initially used because these kind of judicial maneuvers were done when black, unarmed people were involved.
I think people are being intentionally obtuse when they act like they don't understand the term "Black Lives Matter"
If someone says "Asians are smart" do people reply" There are people of all races that are smart" or if someone says " lions are strong" do people reply " bears & tigers are also strong".....No because most people realize to make a comment about one group doesn't mean that the comment excludes everyone else....and btw, the slogan is not ......Only Black Lives Matter, so I really don't understand the criticisms.

I followed the entire trial and she most certainly did testify that while she was talking to him he said he was home and she told him to go inside and he said refused. I will you agree with you about the prosecutors. They were awful. It almost seemed like they were trying to loose the case on purpose. As far as the premise that the black people should not be shot because they were unarmed. That is erroneous. One doesn't have to be armed to pose a signifigant threat to life and limb.

I followed the entire trial also ( I remember arguing this case everyday with you & others) & what you are saying is an assumption. It was not proven, just a theory. I agree with SEC, Rachel Jeantel did not testify to that.

I too followed the entire trial never missing a day..Here is a summary of Jeantel's testimony that can be found online as well as the link to the exact testimony:
" The interview was conducted by Florida Assistant State Attorney Bernie de la Rionda. She says that Trayvon told her that a white man in a car was watching him from a car. He said that the man watching was on the phone. Trayvon said that he was going to start walking. Phone hung up and she called him back. He said the man was still watching him. He put his hoodie on because it was still raining. She told him to run to his dad’s house. He said that he would run. She heard Trayvon running and could hear the wind. Trayvon said that he lost the guy. Then, he told her the guy was coming closer to him. She heard Trayvon say “Why you following me for?” An old man said, “What are you doing around here?” She called Trayvon’s name and he didn’t answer. She said someone bumped him, and she heard the phone drop. She could hear a little bit of sound. Trayvon was saying “Get off, get off.” Then, the phone hung up. She called him back two or three times. She states she has guilt about the situation."

Who put forth the premise that black people should not be shot because they were unarmed? I certainly didn't. What I did put forth was the fact that the slogan" Black Lives Matter " came about after unarmed blacks were killed by Zimmerman & then police officers. I never stated nor suggested that an unarmed person whether black or any other race can never pose a significant threat to life or limb.

Just going to skip over all the Zimmerman & go back to B using the halftime show for a political statement. Please look at the history of football & political agendas. B is far from the first to take advantage of this platform, but racists are feeling their Wheaties lately & are overly sensitive toward black ppl(others) standing up & confronting injustice. Scares the sh!t out many close minded folks. Usually the folks ranting are the least informed on the subject.
And wth was with someone suggesting she cover legs? I am just flabbergasted over all this anger telling a woman, ntm entertainer to cover her legs! Since when have legs become offensive? 18dickety2? Meanwhile the men are taking hgh & paralyzing one another or giving themselves brain damage! Won't even go onto their homes lives ::cough:: domestic abuse. There ain't nuthin' wholesome bout the NFL. Cover legs? Really? Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders you are screwed!

When asked about response to her halftime performance, Beyonce' said:
"It’s what I wanted, I wanted people to feel proud, have love for themselves.”...How is wanting people to have love for themselves , a political statement?
Entertainers have always used their mediums to exeress their feelings on many issues. Why shouldn't Beyonce?
Female entertainers have shown "legs" forever..Anyone remember some of the costumes that Cher, Bette Midler, Madonna, Janice Jackson & Lady GaGa have worn? Why should Beyonce' cover her legs? And as Vantro pointed out, what about the cheerleaders for the Broncos & Panthers..should they have covered their legs too ?

Poor Beyonce cannot catch a break whenever she performs at the Superbowl. Last time she performed the conspiracy theorists popped a few vessels ranting about the triangle, Illuminati & her being a shape shifter. I think America needs the stick surgically removed from it's...lol ahhh ppl smh. Anyone else worried about lead in the water?

You know what? I watched the SB in its entirety, including the halftime show, and just enjoyed it. I am a big fan of Beyonce and thought her performance was amazing! I am also a fan of Bruno but was a bit disappointed in his performance. Never once did I pick up on a 'political' message, just artists doing what they do best.
The comments after the SB speak volumes. 'Beyonce brought radical politics to mainstream pop', 'Dancers were in black panther outfits', 'Beyonce should turn her attention to black on black crime'. Seriously, was I watching a different SB?

Zimmerman did not approach the kid. He did follow him for a while but Trayvon managed to loose him and made it all the way home when he chose to go back and confront Zimmerman. He approached Zimmerman not the other way around.

Gm need
I agree Trayvon approached Zimmerman, but I don't think he/Trayvon had managed to make it all the way home, but that's just me

My conclusions and the courts conclusions were largely made based on witnesses put on by the prosecution. The girl he was on the phone gave some very revealing facts and then the there was that crazier than a loon medical examiner. The clincher for me was the fact that he made it all the way home and then turned back to go confront Zimmerman. That was pretty much proven with Trayvon's friend's testimony and a timeline put together by the defense. I really don't think the friends and family of Zimmerman who testified on his behalf really had any effect on the ruling.

need I also agree the prosecution did nothing to help the case for sure, one of the worst
