Downton Abbey

Any fans watching the last season?

Predictions?

Here are a few of mine.

Tom and Mary will wed.

Baxter and Mosley will wed.

Daisy and Andy will wed.

Can't figure out what will happen to Barrow. They did put a hatchet on the mantelpiece with the run down mansion he visited looking for a position.

Favorite line from last week's episode:

Mrs. Patmore to Daisy

Re: Downton Abbey

I love love Downton Abbey and will cry when it ends. They won the sag award last nite !. Love your predictions, but think something negative will happen. Maybe Cora or the Earl.? Barrow will probable set something on fire with a careless cigarette. LOL.

Re: Downton Abbey

I have to admit, I'm a bit ahead in episodes thanks to Netflix.
However, I will not post any spoilers.

Burgo and I have been tossing theories about concerning Barrows.

Burgo thinks he will commit suicide.
I think he will do something heroic,  as he has done in the past and end up OK.
Two more episodes to go......

Will Isobel take Dickie?

Re: Downton Abbey

Yes. Somewhere I read that most people will be happy with the end.
Teach, do you think this season is up to par with former seasons?

It was very good but Because it's ending they really had wrap things up more quickly. There could have been some really great cliff hangers if there was another season or two.

Re: Downton Abbey

Aww....feeling bad for Barrows.  Heartbreaking. Hope he ends up ok.

Yes, Teach, some of the scenes seem cut. Definitely a different feel from other seasons.

We can talk about it when the season is done.

Re: Downton Abbey

Can't stand Mary. I once liked her but she is a b___ch. How could she sit at that table and expose her sister like that? Teaches.....do tell....does her fiance come back??  And then Mary marches off into the sunset, happily married?  Or is she?
What about Barrow?
What is the scoop about Mrs. Padmore? I must have dozed off. What is the story about the house of ill repute?

Re: Downton Abbey

I don't think I'll be giving anything away by commenting about Mrs.Patmore's "house of ill repute".

It seems she had some shady guests, which caused a minor scandal, which turned into a joke, that turned out well thanks to the benevolence of the Granthams.

Re: Downton Abbey

I just happened onto this show half way thru the first season.  After watching one show I went back and watched the season from the beginning.  After the end of the third season I stopped watching.  It's a great show and very well done but for some reason I lost interest.  I think maybe I didn't really like some of the story lines.  But I do like the way the show depicts the society changes over the years.

Re: Downton Abbey

Ok. Not too many shows left.
I hear you Crossy.
Can it all end happily?

Re: Downton Abbey

Is everyone satisfied with the finale?
Things moved very quickly, but IMO all ended well.

For me, the only bittersweet moment was how things ended for Mrs. Hughes and Mr. Carson.

Re: Downton Abbey

No, I want more!  Hated to see it end, I was happy they took the time to tie up loose ends though.

Re: Downton Abbey

Wow. Read your notes. Fell asleep last night and missed it on my main PBS station but it's on the other PBS station right now. Yea. Edith. Mary redeemed herself. I am up to Mr. Barrow saying goodbye to "His Lordship".
What will happen to Lady whats-her-name who refused to marry Lord whats-his-name because of his son? Will they get married? Will Molesley hook up with his kindly coworker? (sorry about the names)
Be back.
Love the dramatic theme music. Will miss it.

Re: Downton Abbey

Bye Bye Downton. But all ended well. I missed what Carson's illness was. Anyone know? They did a good job with the ending on all fronts. Who did Tom end up with? Sorry...I multi-tasked during the show.
What are your favorite moments? Reactions to the ending?
Quotes?
"In Lady Mary's bedroom? Surely not." Carson
"Don't be mysterious. It's the last resort of people with no secrets." MaMa
