Hillary Say What?
Hillary Clinton came under a barrage of criticism Friday for her erroneous remarks, praising the late First Lady Nancy Reagan for her nonexistent AIDS advocacy.
Clinton attended Nancy Reagan’s funeral, and remarked subsequently that the former First Lady had been a “very effective, low-key” advocate for HIV and AIDS.
As many pointed out, the Reagan administration was notoriously remiss in addressing or even acknowledging the existence of the AIDS epidemic for years (and Nancy was no exception).
Clinton was forced to retract and apologize for the comments.“I misspoke on their record on HIV and AIDS. For that, I apologize,” Clinton said.
Not acceptable!

I think after the death of their friend Rock Hudson they both realized how wrong they were. But yes the Reagan administration turned their back on the victims of AIDS....so much could have done.

I'm always first in line to defend Hillary, but in this case, I can't.
How could she have possibly forgotten how the Reagans ignored AIDs for years?
So many books, plays and movies have been written about it.
If she felt she needed to say something nice about Nancy, she could have mentioned her anti-drug activism or as the president mentioned, stem cell research.

What goes through my mind is we all make mistakes because we are human and Hillary Clinton is no exception. She made a mistake and not one that was damaging to anyone. To me it really isn't that big a deal.
No matter how educated, talented, rich, or cool you think you are, how you treat people tells us all. Integrity is everything.

I will not drop my support for Hillary over this incident.
I just find it to be a surprising gaffe, considering the well known, disgraceful history of the Reagans and the AIDs.

My question is why did Hillary even speak at Nancy's funeral?
Our current FLOTUS was in attendance and didn't speak, so was Laura Bush.
Conspicuously absent Mama Bush.

HRC is over booked is my best guess. She has got to be exhausted-I get tired watching her, here, there and everywhere LOL ( I wonder what kind of caffeine she is running on?)

I have to respectfully disagree.
It's a very big deal to those who lost loved ones to AIDS.
To praise Nancy Reagan for being a "very effective, low-key” advocate for HIV and AIDS, was a slap in the face to those who lost loved ones while St. Ronnie and Queen Nancy refused to even mention the word in public.

That may be due to the fact that they know Nancy and Babs Sr. hated each other.
In GHW's biography, he states emphatically:
"Nancy does not like Barbara. She feels that Barbara has the very things she, Nancy, doesn't have, and that she'll never be in Barbara's class."
