TransCanada Shuts Keystone Pipeline Over Leak: 'We Don't Know Where It's Coming From'.
TransCanada representative Shawn Howard onsite answering questions regarding the spill.“We don’t know what has happened here,” Howard admitted, “and we don’t know where it is coming from.”
TransCanada estimated on Thursday that about 16,800 gallons of oil leak in a field in South Dakota from the Keystone I pipeline. The spill, discovered by a farmer over the weekend, led the company to close down the pipeline. The company reported the estimate to the National Response Center and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Administration which is equivalent to 400 barrels of oil, according to the Associated Press.
President Obama Rejects Keystone XL Pipeline Plan
November 6, 2015
Ending a process that has lingered for much of his time in the Oval Office, President Obama announced Friday that the U.S. has rejected TransCanada's application for a permit to complete the Keystone XL pipeline.
The president said that "after extensive public outreach" and consultations, the State Department determined that the proposal "would not serve the national interests of the United States." He added, "I agree with that decision."

Update: The leak is much worse than first reported.
Initially, TransCanada said 187 gallons of crude oil had spilled.
It's now up to 16,800 gallons.
