The most maligned woman in the history of US politics says:
Bill Nye is not actually a scientist.
“Bill Nye is as much as scientist as I am,” Palin said at an event in Washington, D.C..
He’s a kids’ show actor; he’s not a scientist.”
Before he was known as “The Science Guy,” Nye worked as an engineer — a job firmly rooted in science — at Boeing. He studied mechanical engineering at Cornell University, earning a bachelor’s degree in 1977.
In addition to his show, Nye has written several children’s books about science.During his involvement in the entertainment industry, Nye has also kept up his work in the fields of science and education.
He helped design sundials for NASA’s Mars Exploration Rover project, and was a visiting professor at Cornell for several years.

Well, it will be fun to watch Bill Nye debate Sarah Palin on Climate Change. He has agreed to the challenge to be part of the documentary "Climate Hustle", Sarah's latest endeavor.

Sam, this whole Palin/Nye debate thing is not going to happen.
The stories about it are so muddled it's hard to get the truth, buy it seems the whole thing was a publicity scheme to promote an anti-climate change movie.

Darn.
I figured it was too good to be true.

This is what happens when Sarah Palin is involved with anything.
From my friend Wonkette:
Thanks to a misleading press release for a misleading new film, a whole bunch of people were under the impression earlier this week that Nye would be “debating” Palin. Ah, but no, it was merely the first salvo of bullshit from the producers of a bullshit anti-science “documentary,” Climate Hustle, which pretends to be a fair and balanced answer to An Inconvenient Truth — if you don’t mind getting your science from people who think science is all a scam in the first place. Some weaselly language in a press release from the filmmakers said the May 2 premiere of the film would be followed by a panel discussion “headlined by Governor Sarah Palin,” and including “a special appearance by Emmy Award-winning educator Bill Nye the Science Guy.”
Then the updates started getting posted: not so much a “debate” as a panel that would include “a special video appearance” by Nye.
And even that’s a stretch: Variety’s corrected story clarified that producer Marc Morano, publisher of the “skeptical” blog Climate Depot, would be showing “clips of Bill Nye.”
A representative for Nye confirmed he wasn’t even invited to participate in the panel.Morano’s organization, the Committee For a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT), which funded the film, is funded in partby the oil industry and is listed among the “Dirty Dozen of Climate Change Denial.”
Sarah said:"We need to de-politicize climate science by injecting it into the presidential campaign".
Let me know if you figure out what she means.
