it was announced that Michael Strahan is leaving Live with Kelly and Michael and joining Good Morning America full time. Apparently Kelly and Michael Gelman were not informed until a few minutes before the announcement and were livid. I was a little disappointed when Strahan was chosen for Live. I though there were some better choices. But I was wrong. He was a great choice and I loved the two of them together. I wonder who his replacement will be...
Although, there are rumors that GMA will expand to 3 hours. In that case, what happens to Kelly?

Thanks for posting this, I did read that Michael will be on GMA full time, but I just read that Kelly was a NO Show today....No one could contact her or knew if she would be in.
They had to quickly get a replacement for her.. What Kelly is saying is that she was "blindsighted". I liked them too and thought they had a great show together.
If they are expanding to 3 hours,,,she may be right. This was a way to push her out.
MSNBC did the same thing to Melissa Harris Perry...she showed up to do her weekend show and they had someone else in her seat.....they said it was temporary, but she hasn't been seen since.

I don't usually watch the show, but I was at the gym this morning and caught the end.
I can understand why Kelly was upset.
Why all the drama?
Strahan decided to leave and it was kept secret from his co-host?
Maybe it's just me, but Strahan is over exposed.
Seriously, how many venues does he need to be on?
IMO, he's not that exceptional.

I like Michael Straham, but I think you are right...
They said that they found out after their last show together, but I'm sure that he knew ahead of time. I'm sure he had to sign a contract. They don't just move someone to a higher paying job without the paper work being done.
Perhaps he was afraid of how she would feel about his leaving...and as a friend..he should have told her...

I think they were not only co-workers but friends so I think the whole thing was handled very poorly. It seems that the move was orchestrated by Disney/ABC so I think he was probably advised not to say anything to Kelly and Live. It's a shame it had to cause so much hurt. I think Michael and Kelly were a good match for that show. But I read somewhere that Anderson Cooper is the first choice for Michael's replacement. He's one of the ones I was hoping for the last time around but he had just been offered his own show. It will be interesting to see how this will all turn out.

I could be wrong but I think Cathie Lee and Hoda was a single standing show and they extended the Today Show to include their show. The Today Show goes from 7am to 11am.
If they do that with GMA Kelly will still be there. She's not my favorite but I don't like it when people are treated poorly.

I for one cannot stand Kelly Ripa nor Michael Strahan. Both are so over rated! I think when Regis left the show, ABC/Disney should of just cancelled the show. I don't understand why Kelly is mad at Michael. From what I heard, Michael was informed not to tell Kelly, which I think was stupid in the first place! If Kelly should be mad at anyone, it should be ABC, for them telling Michael to keep it quiet and from Kelly. I don't think Michael did anything wrong, and for Kelly to say... "She won't come back if Michael is still their!"... She is acting like a rich spoiled brat. For $36,000 an hour, I would count my blessings and still show up for work, and stop acting so childish!
I'm still reeling over the fact that Kelly makes $36,000 per show!! Personally I don't think she's worth $36,000, maybe $36.00 a day, but not $36,000. No wonder she thinks she's all that! Some of these actors and actress's are really over paid.

I think Kelley managed to make Michael leaving all about her. By throwing the tantrum she did she took the spot light off of him and on to herself. It was very selfish of her to behave the way she has and boycott the show the way she did. The only reason she came back is because of the backlash she was getting. Regardless of how she was feeling she should have been more professional than having a tantrum and refusing to do the show.

I just read that MS is leaving on May 13th...
Kelly makes a very big salary...she should just get over it.
But I do think that it was wrong to NOT let her know ahead of time...What was wrong with telling her??
IMO, as her friend Michael should have clued her in.

I have mixed feelings of this. I do think she handled it the wrong way but do think she should have been informed when he decided to take trhe position. My mom watches the show everyday and she has been saying for a while that Michael was over Kelly and rolled his eyes a lot at her.

I read that they don't like each other. But I do think Kelly should have been told earlier on. It's just plain respectful. I am not a Kelly fan but Michael should have clued her in.

Maybe he did notify them as soon as he made the decision. I just think her reaction was out of proportion and it just made her look bad.
