They announced that Malia will be going to Harvard in 2017 after taking a gap year off . I can't believe how negative and nasty people are being about it. So much rhetoric about how she doesn't deserve it and how she only got in because her father is president. I don't understand the mean spiritness directed at Malia who has done nothing to deserve it. She has been model child and I am willing to bet that she did very well in school. I am happy for her and wish her well in her future endeavors.

On facebook. There were couple of threads that people were being pretty mean spirited about her acceptance into Harvard. CNN posted one of them.

I read it on a newsite that allowed comments and there hundreds of ugly nasty comments (ok maybe 1-2 were ok)

Hatred and jealousy go hand in hand with Obama bashers.

Yet they go overboard defending poor Bristol Palin, who at 17 (Malia's age) got knocked up and then got knocked up again, while making a bundle preaching "abstinence only".

That is true. I just wish people would leave the kids out of it. If someone doesn't like Obama or his policies then they have a right to speak out about it but why be so hateful to the family. It is just sad that so many people are so consumed by hate that they would pick on an innocent kid.

I had hope that the hate would dissipate along the past 8 years. I guess there is little hope that racism will ever go away in this country. It's very sad.

Just further proof that the right - Fox News, Donald Trump, etc. condone, encourage and give a voice to the bigots in this country. You don't have to look too far to see it, but the blind keep preaching that there's very little racism in this country anymore, it fits their narrative and let's them support these people without feeling any guilt what-so-ever. It makes me sad for my country, it's also scary, these people could be sitting beside you at work, or even scarier, at church. The same people who blame our President for dividing us and hurting our country are the very ones who are doing the damage.
