Voting for POTUS

Hello,

While SO and I were at an event today the topic of discussion centered around the election for POTUS. We have a diverse group of friends, some are even members of The Last Refuge and truly want to be Andrew Breitbart but we love them anyway

After the lively discussion and while driving home we came to the sad realization that our country is in trouble on so many levels. We have lost the human spark of spirit, compassion, understanding, unity and equality.

So, who do you vote for as our next POTUS and will it make a difference? Trump imo will clearly cause us much harm but perhaps the same can be said for Clinton or Sanders. Will the VP choice make a difference for you? Or are you just not going to vote? Me, I'm undecided as is my SO.

Interested in other thoughts and opinions.

Re: Voting for POTUS

My reason for voting is firstly (which may seem odd to others) the Supreme Court makeup. Therefore I will vote to try an ensure a Court that reflects "my" views. That is how I can justify how I vote despite the downside.

Re: Voting for POTUS

I will be voting for which ever Democrat wins the nomination.
That would be Hillary, but if for any reason the nominee turns out to be Sanders, I'd have no trouble giving him my vote.

This may offend some posters, but I don't understand how anyone can support a charlatan like Trump.

Hillary's a liar?

Trump was named liar of the year by Politifact and he's never held public office.
Every day he denies things he said and did, even things he confessed to under oath ( Posing as his own publicist John Miller?) and the media doesn't press the issue?

Over and over again, it's "Hillary has so much baggage".

What baggage? I've narrowed it down to three things.

She defended her husband  for having affairs?

WOW! Trump is on his third marriage, carried on a very public affair with Marla Maples while still married to Ivanna. He's on record as saying the most vile things about women and yet he get's a pass?

Hillary has ties to Wall Street.

And Trump promised to fund his own campaign so he wouldn't be beholdin' to anyone. Check out how that promise is working out.

Hillary lied about Benghazi.

Two years of hearings, including her  own 13 hours of testimony, 7 million dollars of taxpayer money spent and what have we learned? "Nothing more could have been done".

NESunrise,

I don't find that odd at all. The Supreme Court makeup should be important to all of us. Thanks for reminding me!

Dolly,

I am a registered democrat but voting the democratic ticket has never determined my vote, unless of course in the primary. I do however support a democratic congress.

Thanks for the rant on Trump, I doubt that it offended any posters on this board.

Franky, I have had enough of the rants from both sides. Nothing in the rants speak to the issues that are important to me for my next POTUS choice, they are just 'gossip' to me.

Re: Voting for POTUS

Good morning Braveone,
I gave my reasons for voting for Hillary or Sanders and I'm a registered Independent.
(I also agree with NE about the importance of SCOTUS appointments)

Getting back to your question about VP choices.
I've read Trump's "short list" of possible running mates and it's positively frightening; same with his possible SCOTUS nominees.

Hillary hasn't really addressed her choice for a running mate.
Some are hoping it's Warren, or possibly Sanders, I don't think it will be either of the two.
I understand Mark Cuban is willing to serve.
PS: What's a SO?

Re: Voting for POTUS

I agree about the SCOTUS appointments being a very important consideration.
I will be voting for the Democratic nominee, be it Clinton or Sanders. I do not think that is a surprise to anyone here.

I also do not understand how any one could vote for Trump.  I do not understand why his followers believe anything that comes out of his liar mouth. He can lie right in their face & they applaud. I just don't get it. This is so embarrassing for America.

Re: Voting for POTUS

If you're a Trumpeter, you should be very concerned about DT's VP pick.

Here's why.

According to Paul Manafort
“The vice presidential pick will also be part of the process of proving he’s ready for the White House,’ Manafort said.‘He needs an experienced person to do the part of the job he doesn’t want to do. He seems himself more as the chairman of the board, than even the CEO, let alone the COO.’”

For the record that would be Significant Other. My SO insists on the caps and so do I.

Hello Dolly,

Trump's list of running mates is indeed frightening. Hillary doesn't have a list, short or long. She may have at one point but they did not get behind her and she is searching.

Mark Cuban, seriously???

Re: Voting for POTUS

Hillary is most likely waiting until Bernie's out of the picture before announcing a VP pick.

As far as Mark Cuban...either he was joking or he really hates Trump that much.

At any rate, Hillary would never pick a Republican, if anything Dems want her to move even more left than she has.

Have a great day.

Re: Voting for POTUS

I will vote for the Democrat. I like Bernie but he would not beat Trump. If Trump wins there will be riots in the streets and violence in this  country will increase. SCOTUS is extremely important.
Not only will I vote but I will knock on doors and drive people to the polls to vote.

I admire your commitment to the democratic party zeke! My vote will be based on who I feel is the most qualified and has the best interest of our country first whatever party affiliation. That being said, I don't want to vote for any of them. Trump for obvious reasons, Clinton for a few reasons all having to do with trust, sincerity and Mr Bill, Sanders because he is living in LaLa land AKA Vermont.

For the first time in my adult life I might not vote. Still optimistic though and hoping for a Superhero to come out of nowhere, run as the third party candidate, win and save the day YAHHHHH! I also expect to win the lottery for BIG bucks by the end of this week!
