And the results are BORING!!!
Trump spoke after the Tuesday primary.
Pretty awful.
He was reading from a teleprompter.
Probably written by a RNC speechwriter.
America First!
What happened to the wall?
What happened to banning Muslims?
What happened to deporting illegal immigrants?
All gone.
All that was left was a boring corporate Jeb Bush-style speech. Yawn.
PLEASE LET TRUMP BE TRUMP.
What is Trump without racism, xenophobia, and sexism? He’s BORING.
FREE TRUMP!

From Business Insider:
Donald Trump faced the cameras Tuesday and delivered a wide-ranging policy speech on the final night of the Republican primaries. But it wasn’t necessarily what he said that drew notice from viewers — it was how he said it.
The New York businessman, known for his brash demeanor, shifted direction and delivered about 15 minutes' worth of relatively tepid prepared remarks from a teleprompter.
Political journalists and pundits were quick to point out the dramatic change in style.
Just last week he mocked presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton for "reading poorly" from the device.
Last summer, Trump went as far as to say he would like to “"outlaw teleprompters for anybody running for president."
“In Crooked Hillary's telepromter speech yesterday, she made up things that I said or believe but have no basis in fact. Not honest!” Trump tweeted on June 3, after Clinton delivered a bruising indictment of Trump’s foreign policy.
"Bad performance by Crooked Hillary Clinton! Reading poorly from the telepromter! She doesn't even look presidential!” Trump tweeted the day of Clinton’s speech.“She’s just reading it off a teleprompter. Believe me, they write that for her,” Trump said of Clinton in March.
Nicole Wallace, former communications chief under President George W. Bush, said on MSNBC that Trump’s (teleprompted) speech was crafted by his daughter Ivanka Trump, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and members of Sen. Jeff Sessions' staff.

Trump did mange to go off the script loaded into a prompter during a riff on trade....to make a toilet joke.
"On trade, America First means the American worker will have his or her job protected from unfair foreign competition. What's happening there is absolutely a disgrace," Trump told a crowd of supporters in New York.
A man in the audience shouted out, "No PPP," confusing it with TPP, the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal pushed by the Obama administration, which Trump vociferously opposes.
Trump replied, "No PPP. You're right about that."
He then paused. "And you mean," Trump added, smiling, "no pee-pee."Trump quickly returned to his prepared message.

(The Atlantic)
".....But watching his speech Tuesday, I realized that he could be in trouble even if I’m underestimating his ability to shape-shift, because the well-behaved Trump who regurgitates words prepared by hired political staffers is, well, boring. And politically correct by design. In other words, he is not only bereft of the very attributes that appealed to a large part of his base—he seems and sounds an awful lot like the very standard-issue pols who they’re ostensibly rebelling against."

ABC's MATTHEW DOWD:
I was struck by Donald Trump's talk last night on the teleprompter. It was almost as if he was like a circus lion who had been tranquilized because he had bit too many people in the course of this. How long it lasts? I have some doubt that he's going to keep this up.

Hewitt: "I Think Every Republican That Is On The Ballot Across The Country Is Wondering ... Do I Start Calling Around And Finding A Job?"

MIKE MURPLY:
You can put Trump on a prompter for thirty minutes with a mediocre speech. But that doesn’t wipe the indelible stain of racism off him. He has to address what he did, he has to fix it. And the idea -- the fundamental flaw of Trump is he's a bad candidate. The minute you let him off prompter, he'll hurt himself.

CBS News:
Trump gave the speech with the assistance of teleprompters, which he has previously derided for being a tool of entrenched politicians. He has even called for banning them for presidential candidates.
The Tuesday evening speech was noticeably different than the free-wheeling, informal Trump at rallies. He outlined some of his key talking points on the stump - that he would fight for "the American worker" and that in regards to his foreign policy, the "we will never enter into any conflict unless it makes us safer as a nation."
For this speech, Trump didn't make a single mention of any of the key pillars of his platform: That he would temporarily bar Muslims from coming into the country, would deport every single undocumented immigrant that is currently residing in the United States and build a wall along the Southern border to keep them out.

From Breitbart:
In the past, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump argued, “if you’re running for president, you should not be allowed to use a teleprompter. No, it’s true. It’s true. It’s so easy.”
He then mocked politicians who read off teleprompters before continuing, “you shouldn’t be allowed, because you don’t know what you’re going to get.
Look what happened with Obama, where he’s a teleprompter guy. No, it’s true. … you don’t want a scripted president. And you don’t want a politically correct president because it takes too much long — takes too much time.”

Donald "Tweety" Trump:
“I don’t use teleprompters,” he said in January, criticizing Hillary Clinton for using one. “Wouldn’t that be easy, teleprompters? I watched Hillary the other day and she has the biggest teleprompters I’ve ever seen. In fact, if you’re sitting on that side of the room or that side of the room you can’t see her because when they are outside, they are painted black and you can’t even see her.”

Bloomberg:
Rarely straying from the pre-written text scrolling on two TelePrompters, a relatively reserved Donald Trump vowed to embrace his status as his party's standard-bearer—even as skepticism mounted from Republicans about what his leadership would entail.

That was so uncomfortable to watch. Changed the channel quickly only to land on a repeat of Samantha Bee mocking him for mocking Hillary's use of a teleprompter. When he tweeted about her use of it he misspelled teleprompter twice in two different tweets. I wish I still found all of this funny.
