Tuesday June 28

Morning everyone.

Nice and cool here today, high 70's expected. I am loving it.

Does anyone have any plans for the 4th? Our town has a Parade that marches right in front of my house. I am not really a Parade kind of person (mostly hate the noise) but I do love this parade! Often some of my past Day Care children stop in to say Hi. Pretty cool to see someone I cared for as a toddler now getting ready for college.  Makes me feel like I contributed to that young life, which I did!

Hope everyone has a great day.

Morning Sam and everyone

No plans, keep the doors and windows shut because I despise fireworks noise LOL
I too am over parades, was taken to every single one for every occasion in NYC when I was little. That's enough parade for a lifetime LOL

Cool to see your lil people all grown up

Enjoy the day !

Re: Tuesday June 28

Good Afternoon Sam, NE and everyone else.

Very warm humid day, although the temp is only at 74....

Just got back from the store and I really believe that people have lost their minds!!!...There were people arguing and pushing and complaining about prices..asking me to get things off the top shelves (since I'm tall)....OMG... I couldn't wait to get home!  The people on the riding carts almost ran me over SEVERAL times,,,ok,,,rant over..

My town has MANY places doing the fireworks...my neighbors also do fireworks (smh) and since I will have my son's dog....I will be sequestered with her, to try to keep her calm..

Great  that you get to see those kids that you helped raise Sam..."it takes a village".

We haven't been to a parade in a couple of years...and since my husband belongs to the Knights of Columbus, I'm sure they will be marching in the parade in my town...I hope he chooses to stay home this year....

Enjoy the rest of your day and evening all...be kind!  I was VERY kind at the supermarket today..

My Dad was in the Motor Patrol in the Shriners & we always had Parades out the ying yang every season. I never had the heart to tell Dad how much I dislike Parades.

Now that he is not here anymore, I am glad I never told him.  Funny how life works sometimes.

Too funny about the riding carts! I am tall as well and often get asked to reach for things for my smaller elderly fellow shoppers. I work nights and shop during the day when the senior shuttle drops off elderly shoppers. Honestly, I don't mind this and often oblige. One day this older gentleman in his riding cart had me reach for almost all of his produce and followed me around the store asking me to reach for stuff on his list. Because I was in a hurry, I asked him for his list and suggested that I go ahead and grab everything for him. His response was "NO, I am capable of shopping on my own!" I said "Yes you are" and moved on. At almost every aisle he was behind me and struggling to reach some items until I reached them for him. He never said another word but did give me a little smile every time.

Re: Tuesday June 28

We don't have a parade but do have spectacular fireworks over the Esplanade with Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops Orchestra. This year, Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas will also be performing.

Haven't been able to attend for several years due to work schedules but this  year SO is working a detail for the event and I have time off to attend  I will be dropping him off and and one of the 'perks' is that we have VIP parking on the Esplanade allowing us to get close to the Hatch Shell. Will be taking the four young grandsons for their very first time! Can't wait to see their reactions, providing they can stay awake. The only downside is that we need to drop SO off several hours before the event. Fortunately there are events planned like community boating and walks around the Charles River. Another downside is that we won't be able to leave after the event is over for hours before SO's detail is done. My hope is that the boys will fall asleep and stay asleep until we leave All worth it though Praying for a safe event with my precious family!!

Enjoy whatever you are doing!

Re: Tuesday June 28

I didn't know it was "senior discount" day when I decided to venture out this afternoon...so I guess I deserve what happened.

We all know that you never go to the supermarket here when its senior day..I really thought senior day was on Wednesday....its best to just let them be. It sure was an experience.  Two women were pulling on a package of the cooked chicken legs sold in the 'cafe', the manager had to come and separate them. There were chicken legs all over the floor and him..People in the 'riding carts' yelling and encouraging them to fight....

I will NEVER go shopping again on a Tuesday...lol

Hey Brave...sounds like a great time for you and the grandsons, sounds beautiful...especially the walk around the Charles River...Wow!
