Re: Last Night of RNC

From RedState, a Conservative website:
"By the time Trump was about 20 minutes into the speech, you were left with the impression that you lived in some third world hellhole and you never knew it before tonight."

"As the speech wore on, Trump quickly reverted to the angry, yelling monotone of Will Farrell’s “voice immodulation syndrome” character from Saturday Night Live that characterized his prior teleprompter performances. And combined with the actual rhetorical content of this particular speech, it made for a long, depressing, angry night".

"Then things got ugly when Trump veered off script for the first time during the speech when discussing the Syrian refugees and angrily declared “WE DON’T WANT THEM IN OUR COUNTRY!!” The tone of Trump’s delivery got progressively worse and angrier the longer he went into his speech, to the point that by the end, he even sounded angry and confrontational when he was discussing the fact that he loved his family".

"Trump had the opportunity to draw some real blood from Hillary tonight. Instead, he delivered an address that was needlessly long, angrily delivered, and depressing."

Re: Last Night of RNC

Call me crazy but I thought Trump's acceptance speech was good and the best speech he has done up to this point. Yes, it was dark, deeply pessimistic and highly critical but was anything he said not true?

We are indeed a broken nation that needs disruptive change, clearly and sadly evident by the success of Donald Trump. Will Hillary Clinton be any better? I don't know but frankly I don't have a lot of confidence in her. So looking forward to the upcoming debates!

Whoever our next POTUS is there will be disruptive change and perhaps that will be a good thing. We will survive the next 4 years starting in 2017 and perhaps by then a better candidate will emerge.

Most of what he said was not true.
Fact check him.

Thanks for the response Dolly. I respectfully disagree with a few exceptions;

 - DT, "The number of police officers killed in the line of duty has risen by almost 50% compared to this point last year."
 - Fact, There has been an increase of 8 percent in police officers killed in the line of duty. However, death related to firearms are up 78 percent.
_ DT, "The number of new illegal immigrant families who have crossed the border so far this year already exceeds the entire total for 2015."
_ Fact, True based on Border Control data starting in October 2015. However, that would not be a very high number in the context of recent years where they are lower than they were in the early 2000s.
_ DT, Nearly 4 in 10 African-American children are living in poverty, while 58 percent of African-American youth are now not employed.
_ Fact, The unemployment rate for black Americans ages 16-19 was 38.1 percent as of June 2016.

There are many statements made in this speech that have been fact checked extensively. There are some that are incorrect, especially those related to statistics, but there are many more that could be true based on interpretation

Look, I am by no means a Trump fan and will not vote for him but do feel the dark picture he painted of the state of the USA is true. Just watch the news. I don't want flowers and sunshine, I want reality and a productive aggressive leader that will move us forward. We haven't had a good leader since JFK and so need one! Neither Trump or Clinton fit the bill for me but one of them will be our next POTUS and the only difference we can make will be in our legislator vote.

Vote your conscience!
