Hillary Clinton selects Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine as her running mate
,
From what I know, dude hits all the right spots-I shall learn more about him but I'm happy!

I have to admit, I know nothing about Kaine.
All can say is, I'm not excited.

Not rip roaring excitement but from what I know
great on gun control
great on education
speaks Spanish!
civil rights lawyer pre political life
is a white man (which is horrible I know) but needed to WIN-it will help all those other white men vote for her.
Too risky and they lose so I can settle for less pizazz and the SCOTUS ending up the way I like it AND Trump loses. I will learn more.

What do you know about him? I know little other than he is a Roman Catholic and personally against abortion. He favors reducing abortions with abstinence focused education and promoting adoption as an alternative to unwanted pregnancy. He opposes capital punishment and supports the ACA (Obama Care).
Other than this, I know little more about him but plan to do some research. Can you share what you know?

I only know a little as I have said-I need to learn more.
Re: Abortion or pro choice as I like to call it-
"Since joining the Senate in 2012, Kaine has tried to cultivate an image as an abortion-rights champion. He’s pleased reproductive rights’ groups with a perfect voting record. He’s railed against GOP attempts to defund Planned Parenthood. And he’s celebrated in their legal victories, including last week’s Supreme Court ruling tossing out a Texas law that tried limiting a woman’s access to abortion clinics.
so back when he ran for governor in 2005-He pledged in his 2005 gubernatorial campaign to reduce the number of terminated pregnancies in the state by promoting adoption and abstinence-focused education.
So did he evolve? Personally, if he continues as he has done in the senate-I'm good. He upholds Roe v Wade 100%
He has 0% rating from the NRA which is wonderful for my beliefs. (me personally)
I oppose capital punishment so again-good for me personally.

Thanks for responding. You're right, we both need to do some research. At this point, based on what I know and what I learned from your reply, he looks good but the jury is still out for now.

Thanks! I think I heard something as I was falling asleep about the environmental ideas he has which may not be favorable-again, have to look it up LOL
In a perfect world he would not have been my choice, but in this current world? I want her to win and I think he is the best for that to happen.

I have never listened to any acceptance speeches. As an Indy...I learn from the news and research....
But today I had time, so.... after listening to Kaine's acceptance speech...all I can say is WOW! Excellent choice by HC!
"Bienvenidos a todos"

Donald J. Trump Verified account @realDonaldTrump
Tim Kaine has been praising the Trans Pacific Partnership and has been pushing hard to get it approved. Job killer! The problem for Trump is that his own running mate Gov. Mike Pence has been a huge cheerleader for TPP.
In 2014, Pence tweeted:
✔ @GovPenceIN
Trade means jobs, but trade also means security. The time has come for all of us to urge the swift adoption of the Trans Pacific Partnership

I missed it Now I have to go find it on the magical internet . I saw a clip where he was speaking Spanish-that's so awesome LOL. I *think* I heard that he is a member of a predominantly African American church (must look this up). When my body temp drops to normal I will start looking this dude up but so far I am liking him
"Bienvenidos a todos" is sooooooooooo much better than everybody get out

Me too...I'm liking alot of what he said...he wasn't boring at all....I loved the part of his speech when he gave the audience (mainly students) a 3 question test...really zapped the crooked piece of garbage.
Edited to add:
Kaine’s Catholicism also represents the demographic future of the Catholic Church, and of America. His parish in Richmond is mostly non-white, and according to one report, Kaine has even sung in the mostly-black gospel choir. Both as a matter of daily reality and ethical commitment, Kaine’s religiosity includes a commitment to racial justice.

Hi NESunrise,
I happened to be home and watched Hillary introduce Kaine as her chosen VP running mate. Not an acceptance speech just yet but have no doubt that will come.
I also did a bit more research and think that Kaine has much to offer as VP (so much more than Pence) as evidenced by his background and his real action to make the world a better place. Looking forward to learning more about him and how he stands up in the debates. I honestly think that this is going to be a very close race.
Would rather have a more viable candidate for POTUS but we are stuck with Clinton or Trump Whoever wins you should be sure to vote for the legalization of recreational marijuana! This might be the only thing to get us through this without killing each other.

Braveone, LOL @ voting for legalization for recreational-you're right it might save the world. I think from what I have read he is good guy as in a real good guy-as in walking the walk, which may bore some people but I put a lot of stock in doing right. I don't see any overt red flags yet-Pence is GIANT HUGE red flag.

I agree NE and Brave...Pence seems a bit afraid of the ....almost like he's unsure of this step he took to be his VP..
