Happy post- July 4th. I hope everyone had a restful day if nothing else...and fun, too. Happy Birthday, USA! Here's to making our country the best it can be.....allowing a fair shot at a safe and comfortable life here for ALL!
Well.....just a quick mention about NYC because I saw something last night I have never seen before.
The Macy's fireworks were over the East River which made it a little challenging to see from my vantage point, Upper West Side from a high tower. But we could see them and we had the TV on to hear the music. But when they ended at 10pm, the show really began:
Fireworks erupted all over Manhattan, Queens, and New Jersey. I mean they were almost as big as Macy's. I finally  fell asleep at 12am and they hadn't stopped. I woke up at 4 am to go to the powder room and guess what.....there were some rogue fireworks still booming away.
I never knew this secret. They were coming from rooftops (I guess) and parks. At one point there was a police helicopter flying with a huge spotlight, trying to discourage the late night activity but that was soon given up.
I had to share because I never knew about this. It was hilarious but a little weird. Well, maybe not for the city!

Oh Spunky....just saw the picture you posted yesterday. Warms my heart and gets me a little teary for the Towers and the past.
My prayer: PEACE. Another prayer for saner leadership for this great country. We need a better person at the helm of this ship and I don't want to wait 4 years for it. There is an Emperor with No Clothes in power right now. He needs to take the High Road OUT of Washington, DC.... Sooner rather than later.

Hi zeke and all to follow.

The fireworks show sounds amazing zeke.

But I kind of had a different take of those rogue fireworks going on near me.  As I lay in bed at about 10 pm the neighborhood fireworks were just getting started.  To me it sounded like bombs going off.  Then I started thinking about the innocent people in areas that are bombed constantly..Syria, Afghanistan etc. That is the reality of their life. It makes me sad. But here in America we enjoy spending so much money on fireworks to express our independence.  I suppose we should be thankful that in America we are safe from being bombed, at least for now.  But for others, being bombed is part of everyday life.

It also makes me sad to know that America is responsible for many of those bombs.  I know most Americans don't think about it but I have always been a pacifist  and I do think about it a lot.

Sorry for raining on your parade, zeke. But in Trump's America things just aren't the same.

Sam......I was thinking the same. when I heard the booming I thought what it must be like to live like that.....rarely get a shower.....not able to run to the corner for a loaf of bread.....not have the where-with-all to take a sick child to the doctor or save his/her life if born with a bad heart. No Sam.....I hear you...have been thinking that way a LOT here of late.
Peace go with you today Sam....we'll keep doing our part, ok? May be little but it's something.

I agree...And the loud noises are also terrible for the Vets that are back from the wars, must bring back memories/flashbacks of what they experienced...

animals too ...dogs and other pets are so terrified of the loud noises. My sons dog was here...just buried under my blanket,,,shivering...just horrible!

Those poor people from those war torn countries being bombed...just living like that day after day...I don't even want to imagine it...I just can't go there...so so devastating.... Our America is so great....always has been and always will be.

When I saw the picture of the Statue of Liberty and the Towers...my heart hurt....

Sorry to upset you....but I'll never forget, as I know that you and many others won't either.....Its unimaginable, what those people in the towers must have gone through...to just go to work and never be able to come home again,,
