When Hurricane Katrina battered New Orleans, Obama wasn't even president. Katrina swept the country in 2005, a good three years and six months before Obama was sworn into office for the first time in 2009. The man leading the country at that point was President George W. Bush, and his response to Katrina was so badly received that one Vanity Fair writer called the hurricane "the flood that sunk George W. Bush."In August 2005, Obama was still just a senator of Illinois. And guess what? Despite not being president, he still wasn't out golfing or on vacation. At that time, he went out to meet Katrina evacuees in Houston, Texas. Afterwards, he spoke frankly about the federal response to the hurricane.

I still can't get over how stupid those deplorables are...Obama wasn't President then...why don't they understand that????!!!...STUPID.....UNEDUCATED.....LOOK IT UP....IDIOTS!

"That is the deeper shame of this past week — that it has taken a crisis like this one to awaken us to the great divide that continues to fester in our midst. That’s what all Americans are truly ashamed about, and the fact that we’re ashamed about it is a good sign.

The fact that all of us — black, white, rich, poor, Republican, Democrat — don’t like to see such a reflection of this country we love, tells me that the American people have better instincts and a broader heart than our current politics would indicate.

We had nothing before the Hurricane. Now we have even less.

I hope that we all take the time to ponder the truth of that message."

My favorite was the biker lady posting a picture asking why Michelle was shopping for boots during Katrina.....it was a photo SOS rice!
