This tree

125 year old Rhododendron tree...had to share. I can't stop looking at it.

I guess they never trimmed it...now you can hardly see that house...but it is beautiful ...it should be on an open field,,so it can really stretch its wngs.

The one in my front yard is about half that wide, but not nearly as tall.  I love rhododendrons and azaleas.  About six or seven years ago, a strange thing happened, my rhododendron bloomed at the normal time in the spring, and then AGAIN in September.  I called a bunch of nurseries and nobody could explain it.

Sara, do you recall the weather conditions right before it had it's second bloom? It sounds like you might have had a fairly wet, and hot summer to prevoke it to do that. Just a thought, I could be wrong. The tree pictured is stunning. Much easier to clean up after having all that concrete around too.
