Fact-checking website crashes during Trump's first State of the Union
Lies. lies and more lies.
From Politifact:
Here’s our rundown of the president’s address, along with notes on his claims' overall accuracy and additional context. (This story will be updated as we do more fact-checking.)
"Just as I promised the American people from this podium 11 months ago, we enacted the biggest tax cuts and reforms in American history."
In inflation-adjusted dollars, the recent tax bill is the fourth-largest since 1940. And as a percentage of GDP, it ranks seventh.

"After years of wage stagnation, we are finally seeing rising wages."
We rated Trump’s claim
By the most common measure, wages did go up for the first three quarters of Trump’s presidency, but they fell in the fourth, wiping out all the gains on his watch and then some. His assertion also ignores that wages — by two different measurements — began their climb during the final years of Obama’s presidency.

"The visa lottery — a program that randomly hands out green cards without any regard for skill, merit, or the safety of American people."
We rated Trump’s claim We rated Trump’s claim
While lottery applicants are randomly selected, they must meet education and work experience requirements. They must also be vetted by the United States government before being allowed to come to the United States.

"In the past, we have foolishly released hundreds and hundreds of dangerous terrorists, only to meet them again on the battlefield — including the ISIS leader, al-Baghdadi, who we captured, who we had, who we released."
We rated this statement
Trump overstated the number of prisoners released from Guantanamo, who were confirmed to have re-engaged in some type of terrorist activity. That number is 122, not "hundreds and hundreds."
He is also not entirely right that al-Baghdadi was "released" by the United States.
The ISIS leader was handed over to the Iraqis in 2004. The Iraqis released him some time later.A legal contract between the United States and Iraq guaranteed that the United States would give up custody of virtually every detainee; it was signed during the Bush administration. It would have required an extraordinary effort to have held on to Baghdadi.

More Proof Trump Is Obsessed with Hillary.
Looks like dumb shit speech writer Stephan Miller is pilfering democratic ideas again. NBC News is reporting that Donnie’s catch phrase for the night is going to be the “New American Moment”. If he does, he’ll just be copying the phrase first used by Hillary in 2010
Clinton, whom Trump defeated in the 2016 presidential election, used the phrase in a 2010 speech to herald the foreign policy she was pursuing on behalf of President Barack Obama as secretary of state.
Lazy, sad….

Also too, who's idea was it to have Melanie wear a white pant suit???
Republicans are so boring;can't come up with one original idea of their own and when they do this is what happens.

It makes me ill to read all the comments this morning on FB. So many people buy into Trump's BS. They are talking about what a great President he is.
This is like a continuing nightmare that I can not wake up from.

Donald Trump Spent His First State of the Union Taking Credit for Barack Obama’s Accomplishments
Thanks, Obama.
Donald Trump delivered his first State of the Union address to Congress on Tuesday night, convincingly demonstrating to the entire world that he is, contrary to popular belief, a functional adult who is capable of reading patriotic bromides from a teleprompter for 80 minutes without going on a white-supremacist tangent. But during the parts of his speech in which the president glowingly touted some of the more noteworthy accomplishments of his first year in office, I couldn't help but notice that many of them shared a certain common thread. Let's go through the transcript together and see if you, too, can spot it.
Since the election, we have created 2.4 million new jobs...
The United States has yet to experience a single month of net job loss since October 2010. Barack Obama was president then.
...including 200,000 new jobs in manufacturing alone.
Manufacturing jobs in this country have been slowly but gradually increasing since 2010. Barack Obama was president then.
After years of wage stagnation, we are finally seeing rising wages.
Inflation-adjusted wages have been steadily on the rise since 2014. Barack Obama was president then.
Unemployment claims have hit a 45-year low.
That figure has been plummeting since April 2009. Barack Obama was president then.

I agree. Some so desperately want him to be great and he's such a failure.
