Sara Gilbert spoke out publicly for the first time Monday since ABC canceled “Roseanne” last week, saying she stands by the network’s decision to do so.Gilbert played Darlene on “Roseanne” for 10 seasons and was the executive producer of this year’s reboot of the show. She addressed the show’s cancellation, as well as co-star Roseanne Barr’s controversial tweets, Monday on CBS’s “The Talk,” which she has co-hosted since 2010. “This has been a very difficult week,” Gilbert said. “A lot of people have been hurt by this. I will say I’m proud of the show we made. The show has always been about diversity, love and inclusion, and it’s sad to see it end in this way.”“I’m sad for the people who lost their jobs in the process,” she continued. “However, I do stand behind the decision that ABC made.”

Wow!! that's great that she made such a statement...
I had read that they may come back with a new version of the show...without Roseanne....I hope they do it, because the show and the other actors deserve a chance to reboot.
I didn't watch it...never liked Roseanne, but I know that many people did watch and her racist statement caused the loss of employment for over 200 people.
I just wonder why Roseanne chose to say that about V.Jarrett...she doesn't even know her or has ever had any dealings with her....
Roseanne is a nut job....just like the pervert...who has still NOT said anything about her racist statement, he agrees with her!!!! two very sick people....

I was happy to hear Sarah stood behind ABC's decision to cancel the show. She was responsible for bringing the cast together for a reboot.
I'm disappointed that ABC knew about Roseanne's political beliefs and her conspiracy tweets and still went ahead with the show. Surely they had read what she was posting.

I watched the Talk the day after the cancellation and there was no comment from Sarah, but apparently last week's shows were pre-recorded. That's why there was no comment on the show until this week. But, Sarah responded immediately on twitter."Roseanne’s recent comments about Valerie Jarrett, and so much more, are abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show. I am disappointed in her actions to say the least," Gilbert tweeted."This is incredibly sad and difficult for all of us, as we’ve created a show that we believe in, are proud of, and that audiences love — one that is separate and apart from the opinions and words of one cast member," she continued."
Michael Fishman, who played Roseanne's son, said, "I condemn these statements vehemently," the 36-year-old actor continued. "They are reprehensible and intolerable, contradicting my beliefs and outlook on life and society. I have always lived and taught my children to be inclusive. I believe our show strived to embrace different backgrounds and opinions, through open dialogue."
and the young women who played Sarah's daughter on the show had called her agent to talk about leaving the show before the cancellation.
