Soccer team found alive after 9 days trapped in cave!

Per CNN:Chiang Rai, Thailand (CNN)Rescue teams have found all 12 boys and their soccer coach alive in a cave in Thailand nine days after the group went missing, according to a high-ranking person involved in the search and rescue operation.

The boys, who range in ages from 11 to 16 years old and are all members of the Wild Boar soccer team, entered the Tham Luang Nang Non cave system on Saturday, June 23, for a team outing, but became stranded in the dark tunnels by a sudden and continuous downpour.

The international rescue operation -- which includes the Thai Navy SEALs as well as experts from the US, China, Australia and the UK -- had been working to reach a large, deep chamber, informally named Pattaya Beach, where they believed the missing boys had taken refuge.

Well they found them all....alive....hungry....and scared...

But none of them can swim???!! so now the dilemma is getting them out of there...

They are trying to drain some of the water out....scary situation

quite a story! all found alive but weak--apparently some so weak they can't walk so the first concern is to get them stronger...then possibly teach them to swim. They've pumped a lot of water out but apparently that then flooded the farmers fields. I hope there is a way to get them out without swimming out. Imagine how frightening that would be...I believe it isn't just swimming out, it involves swimming underwater for a distance. Those poor kids. Two Thai Navy doctors have volunteered to stay with the group until they can get out.

“The water level in the cave is still very high, so we have to teach them how to swim to come out from there,” the provincial governor, Narongsak Osottanakorn, told reporters. “We will give them diver masks, but only the rescue teams can decide whether they can be brought out safely in this way."

I heard that it make take a little time to get them out...

I wonder why they just didn't go back to the area where they came into the cave....??

too scary...now they want to teach them to scuba dive and swim???

they couldn't go back because it had flooded. the tunnels were closed

Wow!...this is a horrific situation...

I read this morning on CNN:

Claus Rasmussen, who is part of the rescue team, said the boys have told divers they heard dogs barking, a rooster crowing and children playing. That information now has teams looking at whether there is a chimney or hole they can access instead of trying to get the boys out through the water.

I hope they can find that opening...

They'll get the kids out. Thank goodness there are people who travel to help rescue people who find themselves in harm's way for one reason or another. They must be extraordinary human beings.

Today I read that the boys and the coach are NOT well enough to attempt an escape..
a new doctor's report has indicated that two of the boys and the coach were suffering with exhaustion from malnutrition.

I am getting really nervous about this, because now they are saying that heavy rain is expected that may hinder even further the rescue effort!

yes, I heard that one of the routes out is now completely flooded and they continue to pump but there are more rains coming. I missed all the details about them getting into this predicament to begin with...they are from the area, I believe, and must know that this is the rainy season. Weren't they aware of the caves flooding during the season? anyone know anything about what lead up to all this?

(what I do know is that it is 3 miles out thru the tunnels. And they are 1/2 mile under ground.)

WOW! hard to imagine 1/2 mile under ground....

Does anyone have any updates??? The news is now concentrating on Scott Pruitt (the crook)

heres a shitty update and what I feared was going to start happening

(CNN)A former Thai Navy diver who joined the operation to rescue 12 boys and their coach from a cave in northern Thailand has died, according to a Thai Navy source.The former SEAL died at 2:00 a.m. Friday due to a lack of air while attempting to return to a command center, located two kilometers (1.2 miles) inside the cave, where the young soccer team and their coach have been trapped for almost two weeks.A huge operation is underway at the Tham Luang Nang Non cave complex, where dozens of Thai Navy SEALs and international experts are attempting to find a way to get the boys out.The members of the Wild Boar soccer team were reported missing on June 23 when they didn't return from an outing after soccer practice.

OMG...so sad...worried about the rest of them stuck in that cave and needing oxygen...

Just heard on the news that they may attempt to move the boys starting this weekend. The oxygen levels have dropped to 15 % , where normal is 21 %, so they feel that not moving is an option anymore.

In addition torrential rains/monsoons are expected this weekend.

Did anyone hear anything else?

Nope, thats what I heard too-they are not going to make it, they are bringing this to a close. Oxygen issue is new today. Why? Yes, I have my tinfoil hat on. But remember Baby Jessica? in 1987?? If her mom hadn't alerted local tv that would never have been covered and we wouldn't have known a damn thing and dollars to donuts Baby Jessica would not have lived.. That was before everybody having phones. There are so many people there from all over he world, they have to make an attempt. I read alot today that has started the victim blaming (for the bad outcome) by journalists interviewing everybody they can dig up. "Supposedly this was an off limits place to go to and the children knew it" that was quotes where I was paraphrasing or doing air quotes as i typed it.
