Fatayi Jomoh, an 11-year-old African American boy who is an honor student, aspiring engineer and talented athlete, was shooting and dribbling a basketball following a game sponsored by the Police Athletic League.  A police officer asked him to stop bouncing the ball three times, (which Fatayi said he didn't hear over the noise of the crowd) by the time he heard the police officer it was too late.  The officer reportedly told Fatayi "I know you hear me, boy,"  and put handcuffs on him.  When the boy's mother asked the police officer what the problem was the officer said, "He was being disrespectful."  Fatayi has played in three police sponsored games and his Mom said, "I wish the officer had given him a chance, he's very hurt by it."  He now fears the police.  The department is looking into the matter.  I just wonder if there is any such thing as common sense anymore.  What the hell is wrong with the police and people in general today?  Is that the penalty for bouncing a basketball when someone tells you to stop, whether you heard them or not?   That cop shouldn't have anything to do with children or that basketball program.
