Per CNN:
(CNN)A parting lesson in American civility from Sen. John McCain lies in the roster of leaders he personally selected to pay tribute at his memorial service Saturday at the National Cathedral.
It was a day in early April when Barack Obama received an unexpected call from McCain, who was battling brain cancer and said he had a blunt question to ask: Would you deliver one of the eulogies at my funeral?
Obama, who is responsible for extinguishing McCain's second bid for the White House a decade ago, immediately answered that he would. He was taken aback by the request, aides say, as was George W. Bush, another former rival, who received a similar call from McCain this spring.

McCain hardly shied away from that in a farewell, posthumous message released on Monday in which he echoed his concession speech to Obama from a decade ago.
"Do not despair of our present difficulties but believe always in the promise and greatness of America, because nothing is inevitable here," McCain wrote in the statement released after his death.
"Americans never quit. We never surrender. We never hide from history. We make history.

The more I remember the good things about McCain the more I like him. Such a good man. If it was different times and different people, maybe I could have voted for him.....

He showed such class when he was running against Pres. Obama! I think he had respect for him even though they were in different parties. Pres. Obama is the perfect person to speak at his funeral, he's a warm and caring person, well spoken and he has class!

Absolutely.... What can we do to prevent men like this from becoming dinosaurs? I feel so helpless.
Even G W Bush. I actually always liked him. He just never should have been a POTUS. I don't think he wanted it. It was all for dad.

Well, first he should fire Sarah And KellyAnne. They both look worn out and haggard, and I'm sure they'll both be happy to not have to lie for that orange dirt bag any more.

Today while President Obama spoke about how when McCain asked him to speak at the memorial service, he felt a mixture of "sadness" and "a certain surprise." The request "captured some of John's essential qualities," including his "ability to see past differences in search of common ground," Obama said.
Obama spoke of a deep respect for the late senator. "For all our differences, for all the times we sparred, I never tried to hide, and I think John came to understand, the long-standing admiration that I had for him."Obama also opened up about his behind-the-scenes relationship McCain and the bond they shared across party lines.
