Huffington Post: It should have been the easiest bill Congress passed all year, the Sexual Harassment Bill. They just can't seem to get the job done, the House wants tough punishments and more transparency when lawmakers sexually harass or discriminate against staffers, but the Senate wants to water down those provisions. The House unanimously passed a bill in February with updates to policies on sexual harassment. The Senate came out with its own bill in May, all they had to do was come up with a final version. With only a couple of weeks left before both bills will expire, they still haven't been able to do their jobs. The differences in bills are as follows.... First: The House bill requires lawmakers to pay out of pocket for settlements, the Senate bill allows taxpayer money to be used. Second: The House bill provides legal representation to accusers, the Senate bill does not. Third: The House requires an impartial investigation at the front end of the probe, the Senate bill nixes that. It doesn't sound like the Senate has any plan to deal with sexual harassment at all to me. It's painfully obvious that our Government doesn't work for any of us.
