Rand Paul has called universal health care "slavery" because it would "conscript" doctors and their staff members to provide care. Guess where Paul's having hernia surgery this month? Shouldice Hernia Hospital in Ontario, Canada, a "world renowned hospital." He'll pay cash, around $8,000, but that sounds like a deal to me, isn't that the cost of a hospital room around here? The hospital is privately owned, but almost all of its work is done under contract with the Ontario government and it accepts Ontario's hospital insurance plan. Aren't the republicans always talking about the poor care Canada provides because of universal health care? I have a family member (by marriage) that always puts down Canada's health care too, he recently went up there for a test so he could save money. Such hypocrites, the whole bunch of them.

I guess if he wants to pay $8,000 out of pocket that's his prerogative. It wouldn't be such a big deal if he weren't so against universal health care. This is after all a world renowned hospital and he can afford it.....(LOL)!!!!!! It's just unfortunate that so many Americans can't afford to drop that much cash on surgery.
Meghan is always going on about the poor health care Canadians get because of universal health care. She made it sound like millions of Canadians were going to the states to get surgery, tests and other medical procedures.......she could not be more wrong. Maybe 1% of the Canadian population can afford to do this. The rest of us stay home and get top notch care.
