At an animal rescue center in Spruce Point, NC, lives a certain cat who's looking for a new home. The center decided to be totally honest in an adoption ad for the cat, hoping someone would accept the challenge and take the "world's worst cat" off their hands. Perdita, a domestic short hair mix that they say is "not for the faint of heart." "We thought she was sick, turns out she's just a jerk." She likes "staring into your soul until you feel as if you may never be cheerful again, lurking in dark corners and fooling shelter staff into thinking she's sick. She doesn't like kittens, dogs or children and hates being hugged by humans! She's single and ready to be socially awkward with a socially awkward human who understands personal space." Oh, they've also waived her adoption fee! Yikes! They've also managed to insult any person who wants to adopt her. I think someone really hates this cat. I will say, the photo that went with the article was very telling, the eyes said it all! I hope someone takes on the challenge and brings a little love into this cat's life. Her owner died, I'm kind of wondering what their obituary had to say about them.

Sheesh. Hope she gets a home. Someone will come forward.

Perdita has been adopted, she refused to pose for the usual adoption photo with her new parents though. It's being reported that "the new parents adore her and she tolerates them!!" Happy ending, I hope.

I hope the little kitty is settled for good.Perdita (Latin for "lost")
My daughter has a cat that is very, very diffcult. Cat is adopted....lived in a cage her whole life. My daughter was eating a sandwich in bed and the cat was sitting in front of her, watching, waiting. The paw went up, she grabbed the WHOLE sandwich and ran.....daughter chased her from room to room and the sandwich never left the cat's mouth. She's a real problem but daughter will never give her up.
