At today's briefing he once again pushed for use of on an unproven therapy for the novel coronavirus: hydroxychloroquine.
Without citing evidence, he said it's a "great" and "powerful" anti-malaria drug "and there are signs that it works on this, some very strong signs."
For people without heart problems, he recommended combining hydroxychloroquine with azithromycin, a common antibiotic. He said azithromycin "will kill certain things that you don't want living within your body."
"I see people are going to die without it," so "what really do we have to lose." He added, "I am saying to do what you want."
When pressed by CNN's Jeremy Diamond on why he is not letting the science speak for itself, and he then said that hydroxychloroquine "may not work and in which case, hey, it didn't work, and it may work," but he said he does not want to wait a "year and a half" to find out.
One reporter asked whether doctors and hospitals would be free from blame if hydroxychloroquine does not help coronavirus patients. He then said that the drug can "help them, but it's not going to hurt them."
Experts say the drug, while generally considered to be safe, can come with side effects -- including nausea, diarrhea, vomiting and skin rashes, and death!!

I might be wrong but I think this drug may be used by Lupis patients so if there becomes a shortage of this drug it presents a problem for these patients.
Can you imagine the discussions between the state governors regarding DT? Ouch!

I take this drug along with folic acid and methotrexate because I have rheumatoid arthritis.....I hope there won't be any shortages in Canada because your A Hole in chief is touting hydoxoquine as a miracle cure. I'll bet my last dollar he has stock in what ever drug company is making it.
And yes, people with Lupis take this drug too.

First thing I thought of, the government has purchased a lot of this drug according to what I've read, and Don the Con will end up lining his pockets with money. He and his friends at Faux News are pushing it for all its worth.

I just read this on CNNCNN)
When Elaine MacKenzie hears Trump talk about how a particular drug might be a "game-changer" for people with coronavirus, it's more than just news to her -- it's personal.
Her doctor wants her to take hydroxychloroquine for her rheumatoid arthritis.
Trump's been enthusiastic about this drug for coronavirus patients, causing people hoard it -- even though it's still being tested and might not even work against the virus. MacKenzie, 58, went to several pharmacies near her New Canaan, Connecticut, home, and found they they were all out.

Per CNN:
Dr. Alfred Kim, a rheumatologist in St. Louis, said his patients are facing the same difficult situation because of Trump's comments about hydroxychloroquine.
After Trump's initial embrace of the drugs in mid-March, Kim checked in with nearby pharmacies and found that "the entire local supply was depleted" within days, he told CNN.

My blood is boiling.......I need a prescription to get this drug. Is this available over the counter in the States? If it is, why can't pharmacists put some aside for people who really need it?
