Hello Clean, Spunky, and hedy.
On this day 19 years ago, I had been rollerblading when all hell broke loose in NYC. I got in my car to hear on the radio that a plane had hit the Trade Center. 8:46am. The plane had travelled down the Hudson River with its target clearly in full view. I don’t remember driving. Upon arrival home, I turned on the tv and eventually saw the first tower fall before my very eyes.
The phone rang and it was my daughter’s friend asking about her. That’s when the realization hit that my daughter, a student at NYU, was right in the thick of it all.
The weather that day was much like today. Absolutely beautiful.
We were an innocent nation, thinking that we were invincible. We lost our innocence that day.
I am sad but hopeful. Somehow we’ll make it through.
I know it.
