Russia hacked into U.S. computer networks in recent days, and many intelligence officials say it shows Moscow is a bigger election threat than Iran.

American officials did not make clear what Russia planned to do, but they said its operations would be intended to help President rump, potentially by disputing the results, especially if the race is too close to call.
