In the days after the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, the phone lines and websites of local election officials across the country were jumping: Tens of thousands of Republicans were calling or logging on to switch their party affiliations.
In California, more than 33,000 registered Republicans left the party during the three weeks after the Washington riot. In Pennsylvania, more than 12,000 voters left the GOP in the past month, and more than 10,000 Republicans changed their registration in Arizona.
An analysis of January voting records by The New York Times found that nearly 140,000 Republicans had quit the party in 25 states that had readily available data (19 states do not have registration by party). Voting experts said the data indicated a stronger-than-usual flight from a political party after a presidential election, as well as the potential start of a damaging period for GOP registrations as voters recoil from the Capitol violence and its fallout.

Well the GOP can also blame the rump for this mass exodus ....because we all know that he's a loserand a LIAR!
He's also responsible for the deaths of five people, killed by his thugs !!! and sent there to the capitol by him!!!!

I pray that even more leave the party after the traitors let dimwit off the hook in his second impeachment. They literally don't care what the man has done. This party has sunk so low.

What astounds me the most is how all of those people who were in the Capital building on January 6th can still continue to stand behind a president who....not only incited the insurrection, but stood back and refused to call in the National Guard. His message was loud and clear. He wanted a coup and he didn’t care that people died. Now he’s walked away and many of those people are facing long prison sentences....not that I feel sorry for them. I don’t.

Totally agree. But will 17 Repubs vote to convict?

I don’t think 17 Republicans will vote to impeach Trump. History will not be kind to them. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t want that to be my legacy.

Agree. It's odd about legacies. Sadly, so many people don't read and have convenient memories. I think the Repubs bank on that and do whatever works for them at the time of an event. Their constituents don't care or will believe what is fed to them in the moment. Broad brush I know but for now it's looking like that's true.
