• The Taliban have taken control of the presidential palace in Kabul after the country's president Ashraf Ghani fled the country.
• The US is pulling all personnel from its embassy in Kabul, sources said. The embassy, which is now operating out of the Kabul airport, instructed US citizens in the capital to shelter in place.
