House committee seeks to interview GOP Rep. Jim Jordan about

January 6th!
The House select committee investigating January 6has asked Rep. Jim Jordan, one of former President Donald rump's top congressional allies, to voluntarily meet with the panel as it zeroes in on Republican lawmakers who may have significant knowledge of events leading up to the US Capitol attack.

Jordan previously warned the committee that targeting GOP lawmakers in any capacity would be met with political retribution if Republicans retake the House after next year's midterm elections.

The Ohio Republican is the second ally of rump to receive an interview request this week. Rep. Scott Perry of Pennsylvania has already declined the committee's request to voluntarily sit down with investigators -- vowing instead to continue fighting "the failures of the radical Left."

Rep. Bennie Thompson of Mississippi, who chairs the committee, saysin the letter to Jordan that the panel wants to learn more about communications with  the rump on January 6.

Re: House committee seeks to interview GOP Rep. Jim Jordan about

The committee’s request is not a subpoena, so the congressman is not compelled to show up and testify behind closed doors or deliver documents, as others have done.

But today’s move could be the first step in the process, as the committee has taken increasingly harsh measures against witnesses who refuse to cooperate with its investigation.

The panel has already voted to hold three witnesses in contempt: one-time White House adviser Steve Bannon, ex-Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark, and Meadows, Trump’s former chief of staff.
