Re: Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson's confirmation hearing: Day 1

Judge Jackson had an outstanding day at her hearing. She outwitted stupid Lyndsey Graham who looked like a punk....asking her about religion....made mincemeat of Ted Cruz who asked her about CRT which is something he has little understanding of....and (I could only listen via radio) Tom Cotton sounded like a 16-year-old teen, trying to trap her about her past sentencing of criminals. Judge Jackson calmly answered their questions.....they never succeeded in their efforts to rattle her.
These senators made a pathetic showing today.

I wish the media would stop referring to Judge Brown as the first AA female (historic) to get appointed to the SC (if it happens).
It's been said enough! It makes it sound too much like she's been picked as the Affirmative Action candidate when in reality she is more credentialed than several of the sitting SCOTUS'.

Wow. I could only listen part time on the radio. I could hear Graham and Cruz screaming at this judge. Such a lack of decorum and respect for this candidate. Racist in my book. I don’t think they would have treated  a white woman with such disdain. They are pandering to their racist constituents.

The addition of Judge Brown will only make the SC more well rounded by someone who is a professional, a woman, a mother, and more.

Re: Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson's confirmation hearing: Day 1

Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson finished her two days of questioning on Wednesday, having spent some 22 hours this week being grilled by the Senate Judiciary Committee.Though there were plenty of lines of contentious questioning from Republicans on Tuesday, some GOP committee members took an even more aggressive approach on Wednesday, repeatedly interrupting Jackson, dismissing her attempts to answer their questions and squabbling with Democrats about whether they were being fair to the nominee.

"To see what this highly qualified, remarkable woman had to face is a shame on those who try to declare themselves as senators," Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont said after Wednesday's hearing. "It's beneath this body. It's beneath the US Supreme Court and it is beneath our great country."

The Judiciary Committee is poised to vote on Jackson's nomination on April 4, as Democratic leaders hope to confirm her before their mid-April recess.
