Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel is "at war" after Gaza militants launched a surprise attack today, firing thousands of rockets and entering Israel by land, sea and air using paragliders.
At least 40 people have died and nearly 800 are wounded in Israel, officials said.

President Biden has addressed the situation in Israel in remarks made from the White House.
He spoke earlier with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and emphasized that the US stands with Israel, according to both governments.

This was the wrong piece of land to assign Israel back in 1967 but now we're in it. There seems to be no solution but one must continue to hope. Prayers for all the families with losses and all the hostages now hidden within the Gaza Strip. Young people in Israel have been called up to serve in the military....that has to be scary. We need a miracle.

My next door neighbours emigrated to Canada from Tel Aviv. Their family still lives there. I’m sure they’re sick with worry.

I wish there could have been better solutions to the ongoing conflict over there. I think Netanyahu is a big part of the problem.
My friend’s cousin is in the military there and has been called up. I don’t think she’s ever seen any action before this.
Prayers for all of them and us, too.
